You can purchase traffic to a site with adsense on it.
Geesh, where did you get that idea?

I'm pretty sure you can't. I will look in to it but I would advise you not to buy traffic to a adsense site.

** according to other threads I have found it is fine but I can't be bothered looking through google's TOS at the moment.

    Yes you can!
Geesh, if you could not, then how about all the advertisers on this forum?
    Or any advertiser?
    Or how about adwords?
You say that if we have adsense on a site, we are not allowed to advertise?

There is a difference between buying advertising and buying bulk views.

    Really?
    What is the difference?

I buy advertising on a gpt site, or ptc site, where I will have their members visit my site.
Why is that different from buying advertising on this forum where I will have the forum members view my site?

I'm pretty sure that Dawg is using his wit here.
    Stop biting!

Any method of artificially increasing your impressions or clicks by using directly purchased traffic is prohibited by AdSense.

Have to add more to this.
There were, and probably still are, autosurf sites that were set up just for members to click on the adsense ads on other member sites.
Actually said that as a member, you should be clicking on other member adsense ads as you surfed to their sites.
Just as the other members would be clicking on your adsense ads when they surf to your site.

Same with ptc and gpt sites that stated that by being a member, and viewing the ads, it is up to you to support our advertisers by clicking on the adsense ads and other ads on the sites when you viewed them.

The above, heck no for advertising your site there!!!!

Again, be careful if you advertise on surf sites, gpt and ptc sites.
Read their rules, what they say, and so forth.
If at any point you read anything that points to members clicking on advertiser ads, click away at once!

Google will ban you for buying links or traffic. Even free link building sites like Telelinks.com will get you booted. As for Adsense, thats kind of a grey area. I've heard that it's OK, but know a lot of people that mysteriously get banned afterward with no explanation given. Could be something else they did wrong. My site had a pagerank of 3 and was getting a lot of traffic from Google. Then put Telelinks on my site. Within a week my PR went to 0 and traffic stopped coming from them. Google checks PR every 3 months. Eventually I got it all back.
This relates to Adsense only in that you'll get no traffic from Google SE so you'll see a significant drop in Adsense earnings. Simply block access to those pages with your robots.txt file.
