Thread: can I even put this there? ad placement...

So I'm trying to increase my daily earnings from 2 cents to 4, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong...

I just added the nifty social BM'ing thing and the Google search bar.

Next, I wanted to add a skyscraper or two, left and right columns but for the life of me I can't see to get either to appear.

Is it such that you can't have the google search and ads in the same section?

They sometimes take a little while to begin displaying, but you can have both search and ads on the same page.

Nice site, btw.

Ever thought of doing some content pages for the site and stuffing ad placement in those. Google indexes, direct search traffic and some $$$ on top of your standard bus..

Yeah, I need to add some 'meat'. I'd like to be able to add a blog to it or something but I'm not sure if they support it per say.

like for instance I'm editing my page via a CP...

the fields I am able to enter:

- page title
- css
- javascript
- head tag
- body tag
- header
- footer

so I gotta figure out what goes where!

You could always link to a different server using a sub domain of your domain. blog.timsdigitaldarkroom.com, or something similar

What about getting hosting somewhere other than smugmug? Somewhere with a full cPanel and Fantastico scripts, etc.

It's possible that your ads aren't showing because you don't have full html editing capabilities. Have you had ads there before?

when you say 'link' you mean a physical link that points to another domain?

eg, so like on the front page, if I said click here for X?

Get a real host with cpanel, and all the goodies.

Then you are not limited in what you can do to your site.

I knew that going in, less flexibility but what it lacks with that, it more than makes up for itself with the automated shopping cart, checkout, printing, and shipping. When someone orders a print, t-shirt, tote bag or whatever, all I have to do it proof the picture and they do the rest!


that to me is invaluable. For once I can actually just focus on the photography aspect! Aside from this little tangent I'm trying to do now!

Then maybe leave all that there and setup the blog on another host.

With me, you get wordpress latest to set up in a few clicks.

Yes. A link to another host, the spiders will crawl it.

You can host a subdomain of your domain at another host, I forget how to set it up but I know you can do it. Colleen has done it before.

If you want a cpanel to play around with let me know and I can give you a free account just to mess around with

I think they might have a blog feature...but ok, I follow on the hosting thing now.

funny thing, I almost got the adsense to go but for whatever reason it would only show up my customize page!

I'm trying their forum now for help in that regard.

I did! finally! I didn't think it would be that big of a deal but I guess CSS is more complicated than I thought.

I was feeling cocky since i was able to add the "add this" and google search box on my own!!

Found on smugmug uses WordPress, just like Batman would if he blogged.

seems like the blog for smugmug is only reserved for Admin for articles and the like. I thought anyone could add it an an extension to their page

So break down and spend $15 per year and get hosting with me.
Then you can have your own blog.
