Default Google testing new keyword phrase anchor text links within their 468×60 banners ads.

Hellooooo alllll ... I would like to report a sighting of sorts!!

I found something really interesting on one of my client's blogs the other day and as the titles says ... looks like the Google Adsense team is testing a new keyword phrase anchor text links within their 468×60 banners ads ... I have written about it on my blog and have a screen capture so you can check things out for yourself (I personally don't like it) any ways here is the link and enjoy:

That's just plain ugly for starters, as an advertiser I also see it as more bogus clicks from confused surfers.

Why google isn't making enough already?

Yuck! It looks like they are putting the link ads into the banner text which IMHO would decrease the clicks for those that embed their ads in their sites. Total overkill. It would seem this would annoy advertisers as much as publishers, atleast it does me. Lets hope they don't keep it that way, but I somehow doubt they care about my opinion

It appears that there seems to be several ad attribute that are being triggered, according to some comments I've seen in other forums and on my blog. There are some that are indicating that they have seen 2 types of effect when clicking on the text links, 1) is that it acts like a "ad link" and sends you to a google pages with a list of advertisers so basically in effect you need 2 click to claim your loot 2)clicking on the text link changes the two ads in the content through javascript to reflect ads that match the keyword phrase was clicked

    interesting none the less!
