Default 5 ways to boost your google adsense earnings.

1- I concentrate on 1 format of AdSense ad, which is the
Large Rectangle (336x280). This format has been proven to
work with me in resulting high click-through rates (CTR).
Why this format? Because the ads look like normal web
links, and people are trained to click on these types of
    links.

2- I create custom palette for my ads. I choose white as
the color for the border and background. This is because,
all of my pages have white background. The idea is to make
the AdSense ads look like they are a part of my web pages.

3- Previously, I put all my AdSense ads at the bottom of my
pages. One day, I moved those ads to the top of the page.
The result surprised me. My earning increased! Since then,
I don't hide my AdSense ads anymore!

4- I maintain some links to other relevant websites, and I
put my AdSense ads at the top of the links, so that my
    visitors see them first.

5- I automate the insertion of AdSense code into my
webpages using SSI (server side included). You'll need to
ask your web administrator whether your server supports SSI
or not. Here's how to do it. You just put the AdSense code
in a text file, save it as 'adsense.txt', and upload it to
the root directory of your web server. Next, call the code
    on other pages using SSI.

This trick is really a time saver especially for those who
use automatic page generators to generate pages on their
    website.

Try adding graphical cues at the top of the ads.

I personally feel there is more to adsense than generalization. Every site is different and ways to monetize from them are different as well. What applies to one site os is true for one of them, may not be working that great for other site.

Few things to note are :-

    1) You don't have to stick with a particular ad format.
Basic purpose is to embedd your ads into site. And if you feel a half banner is fine at a location, go with it. And if full banner is needed at other location, use that. Its not necessary to stick to just one sort of format or presentation.

    2) make the format resemble your site as much as you can. No one likes to see ads in navy blue when site template or skin is of green colour. So, try to have that match your site's appearance.

    3) have different ad channels for al lyour sites, so that you know which site is bringing what and where you need to develop and upon improvement , if its paying or not.

    4) Referals are also good and should be used. Google allows max. 4 on one page, so why not use it?

    5) One thing to remember is that there are few bad sponsors whose ads show up maximum number of times and their click rate is poor, so why not just block them and have ads where click rate is higher. I remember some site by name adsense blacklist, don't remember exact URl, so use such blacklists and preferably block them from your channels.

Rest you'll know better as you play with it and see the results.

    Good Luck!

Blending not always work for ALL pages, I found that in certainpages using bright colors for the ads increase your clicks! Just experiment around and see what it works for your site.

Exactly.. It all depends on the type of visitors to your site. Sometimes an ad that sticks out of the page generates more revenue than the blended one...
I had a women oriented site, and earlier I tried blended ads, but CTR was horrible, then I used opposit colors to make the ads stick out off the page, and whoa CTR was sky rocketing. all the women went crazy for all the fashion stuffs advertized there.. LMAO..

There's just one right way to boost adsense ctr: put the ads in front of the visitors and make them blend in - not look like ads. That will always give you the highest possible ctr. And of course make sure you're within the tos

This partially correct for me, In terms if you are in knowledge of viewing the peoples acts you will get higher ctr's good ad placement is not enough believe me.

I have directed each of it with special cautions. I followed where people rollover mot on the site and then place my ads over there. So where the mouse is rollover ed the most the ads will be placed = higher ctr% I guarantee you all 25% minimum ctr will accomplish.

Customize you adsense ads as much as possible. ALso make them to look outstanding on your pages, with stronger colors, so user will pay attentions to them ,and it will be bigger possability that they will click.
Do not use standard image banners, for me text banners works better.

Monitor the ads that appear on your site and use the competitive ad filter to keep out the low bidding arbitrage sites.

These guys can be masters of creating hight CTR ads with relevant keywords in ad title, ad description and on landing page so Google gives them a good quality score. But they are amongst the lowest bidders for their keywords.

They bid low to get traffic and then their sites are using PPC to make money off that same PPC traffic.

Visit some of the URL's you see in the ads. If it looks like a parked page or a thin MFA site then they are probably arbitrage advertisers.

You don't want their ads showing on your site!

Because their ads can perform relatively well on a CTR basis, those ads can end up showing up more often on your site, and soon others like it. The Google algorithm is designed to give higher CTR ads more exposure. In theory this makes you and Google more money while at the same time sending more traffic to the advertiser. But with these extreme low bid arbitrage guys they can become a parasite that drives your average Adsense earnings way down.

At least once a month take some time to review the ads appearing on your site and cut out the crap sites you suspect of being low bidders.
