Thread: New site...thinking about advertising books, any ideas?

Hello all,

I am in the process of setting up an astronomy site and I would like to offer various books through my amazon affiliation. I was wandering if this pays out much for any of you and if so, are there any techniques used to help boost sales? Any other ideas, tips?

Well. All depends on your traffic.

The only idea I have - order some books in your topic and create custom review on them. It would take a lot of time, but it should bring nice conversion.

I've had some success with it, the most sales are through the aStore for me, in which I have a bunch of pre-selected books for my niche.

I link to my aStore via a domain link which then redirects to my store, ie; http://www.mydomain.com/bookstore.php or something like that, clicking it leads to the aStore. My site is a forum, so since my files are .php I like to stick with the pattern.

I've also used the Omakase Links widget to insert 728x90 banners ads between the first and second posts in my threads, it was also at the top of the forum, it showed my pre-selected books targeted to my niche, I also make use of the product previews script so when people hover the books they see in the ad, a box pops up with more info about that book.

I've earned more with this than AdSense so I am now slowly removing all AdSense from my sites and putting amazon ads instead.
