Thread: How to mask affiliate links.

I want to mask few of my affiliate links how can I do this without people knowing it's my affiliate ID?

I got tools for this available for download at Leenkz.Com (link in my siggy)

Membership is required, so if you want it for free I cant help you, but if you dont mind the one time $10.00 member fee, lots of downloads are available.

Using link short sites for affiliate links is not the way to go.

You really want to hide the links in such a way that people do not know it is an affiliate link nor a shortened link.

The best way is to use your own domain and have a link like:
yourowndomain.com/recommends

Do you think that most people would catch on if you used something like a customized url from a shortener, such as tinyurl?

I'm thinking you're selling a widget.

You create a custom url of tinyurl.com/widget.

No clue. I always use wordpress blogs and they have a modification available called Wp-Affiliate that does what i need it to do for masking links.

It also tracks all out going links, so for consistency sake, i usually parse all out going links thru it!

You can hide the affiliate links. You can use this free tool to do this. You can find this tool here: HTML Basix - status bar messages

There is another option, to simply redirect URLs to your affiliate ID, example:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^go/yourhost$ hxxp://www.xxxxxxx.net/?id=XXX [R,L]

This way your affiliate ID will look like: hxxp://www.yoursite.com/go/yourhost

That makes sense thought about it but then had my doubts... was suspecting a glitch. Thanks for the headups.

Thanks for the links given..personally I like buying a domain name..maybe a keyword or a short character one, masking it and using it a redirect!

http://realstat.info is one of the names that I bought and used as a "masked' redirects!

I can usually register a dot info for under 2 dollars (Godaddy) and it is mine for a year before I have to re register it! Plus I like the fact that it is mine!

Most domains registrars (that I know of) offer the redirect/masking feature for free!

Try tinyurl.com or get a short and sweet .co.cc extension.

you can also use OffTo.net . it's easy to use..

Hi) you can mask affiliate links through 301 Redirect
Steps're as follows:
1. Open your htaccess file and add the following “code” to it.
(Redirect 301 /product http://youraffiliatelinkhere.tld?123)
2. All done! http://yourdomain.tld/product will redirect to your affiliate link.

I have always used tinyurl. Its simple and works for me. I also think that pageswirl may have the same effect.
