I am considering creating a BANS site but first I would like to know if anyone has had any success with it. I would appreciate any comments you might have. Is this really a worthwhile thing to do?

I don't have a BANS site but I have heard from other forums that Google is really clamping hard on them by banning them. They are really going after sites that provide very little informational value to the Internet. I have received 6 warning letters from Adsense already concerning similar sites and so I don't think they are worthwhile.
Get a custom made site using ebay API. BANS sites are getting BANNED/WARNED. Won't cost much.
I have about 10 BANS sites. I've had them for over a year now. They still get a minimal amount of traffic from google with no promotion, but a lot less traffic than they used to get. I don't see why they would get banned if there's content on them.
Do not put adsense on product listing pages you will get a warning letter.
If you are lazy like me and just want to set it and forget it, here's what I do:
-pick a domain name people will remember (for returning visitors)
-make nice header graphic / pick nice color scheme
-get 5 articles made and add them as pages to the site
-make each category of your site a keyword you want to rank for
-get a short article made for each category and add it to the appropriate page
-rinse, repeat
As crazy as it sounds, I have tried adwords with one of these sites with great success. Just make sure the page the ad points to has a good amount of content and the items aren't too cheap. I'd recommend items that go for $100 and up.

Will Google Deliver The Death Blow For BANS Sites?
My understanding is that BANS refer specifically to the program by "buildanichestore"
Google does have ways and means on detecting these stores. If you want to go ahead, I would look at the coding of the sites carefully to see whether there are any footprints by which Google could detect them.
