Increasing SERP rankings

I have a site on the 5th page of Google and want to bring it up to the 1st page. Please suggest a fast and effective method or technique or a new one to do this.

But I aim for only top 10 results in that keyword.

it depends to the competition.. if it's a low competition.. you can get #1 ranking in only a month..

There is one important thing - backlinks! The more you have the better will be ranking.

As some members already said just spy your competitors from 1st page or just read forums and blogs where such things are disused. There is endless possibilities with backlinks.
