    Default Blog – A Necessary Evil ?

We often come across experts extolling the benefits of having a company blog. But many feel a blog as a burden for the single fact of daily maintenance. It’s a struggle for the blog owners to come up with relevant topics, draw traffic and turn them into loyal followers.

However, having a blog does indeed pay in the long run. Here’s what Nick Stamoulis of Brick Marketing has to say –

At the very least, a business blog helps your company be more transparent. It’s a place to connect with your customers and let your brand’s personality shine through. It’s a forum for your company to share knowledge, promote your own products (although you should keep promotional posts to a minimum) and tell your side of the story.

Secondly, I stay very realistic about my expectations when it comes to blogging. I know that one blog post, no matter how inspired, is not going to generate 100 leads for my company; that’s just not the way it works. There are so many other blogs my target audience could read instead and I know I’m not the biggest player in the SEO world. I blog to find that one diamond in the rough client whose needs I am perfectly suited to meet. My blog posts are how I find and connect with those potential clients.

I believe that content marketing (like blogging) is the foundation for which all of your Internet marketing is built upon. Without content marketing, you will never gain any traction. It may be a competitive field, but you can’t compete at all unless you are willing to try!

I myself am contemplating on whether my site could benefit from a company blog, but I do envision it as a necessary evil however.

For that simple reason alone I have purposefully put creation of a company blog on the end of my webmaster to-do list.

    Much Thanks,

Blog is a driving force for your company's site. Recently it proves as effective traffic driven factor. If you have a strength to regularly update your main site then i think you do not need blog otherwise start developing. If you seem a blog is really a necessary evil then just try to give it penalty reward and analyze the effect on your main site.

Agreed...its getting harder day by day to compete with other top sites with staff and more....one person can barely make an impact on the internet....teams of people succeed....It's hard to find reliable people who won't let you down though....I've been searching...yet to find

Blogging is a great internet marketing tactic. As you mentioned, blogs shouldn’t be about promoting your products or services. People don’t want to read that. People are looking for information. They want to learn something new or be entertained. The hardest thing about blogging is the need for new content on a consistent basis. You don’t want to build a following only to ditch them due to lack of time.

Cool Re: Blog – A Necessary Evil ?

It's better to have a blog that will support your site rather than nothing.
It has many ways why it is effective as mentioned below:

    1. Good traffic-driven factor.
    2. You can regularly update w/o an expert programmer
    3. You can feature different stories or up-to-date news and have it linked to your main site.

I think the reason why blogs are so successful is because they are accessible to everyone. A company's web page with paragraphs of text is more foreign to the average reader and user compared to a blog which everyone can digest much more easily.

I think blogging will be an added avenue for you to connect with your target customers. It is an easy way of staying in touch with them. Like if you have any news and added features or promos, you can easily blog about it and your customers will find out.

Blogging is very useful in terms of giving updates, reviews and news. Many readers prefer to read blogs than other aid of information. blogging is an informal statement whether or not they like a certain product.

Yes I agree with you. Even company sites will benefit on blogs. This are simple but fool-proof ways to connect with your customers. Its a way to become attached to the people without the social networking sites around.

You can always hire somebody to do this for you. There is little to no reason not to have a blog at all.
