An Interview with the Big Bloggers: John Chow and Darren Rowse

Hey guys,

I recently asked the following question to several big time bloggers - those that make a full time income off of just their blogs:

I notice a lot of big blog owners start blogs, saying how they never did it for the money. Yet there are those bloggers that do it for the money, and get nowhere (Some guy on Digital Point was thinking of starting a network of 50 blogs for money!). What was your original motive for starting your blog? And what would you say to all of those bloggers doing it just to make a few extra bucks?

I was lucky enough to get an answer from John Chow and Darren Rowse. I hope everyone enjoys reading their answers, and I hope you think about this, and possibly relate it to your own blog.

Thank you Zash that was quite interesting to read. Especially Darren Rowse's Interview. I am not very Keen on John Chow and find him quite false, but Still a good read, thank you.

Those are some great interviews Zash. Good job.

I wholeheartedly agree with all three of them. You'll notice that all three of them started their blogs to chronicle something of interest to them; something they would blog about regardless of whether it would make them money or not.

The last I heard, the average time it took to really start making any money from blogging was one year. That's an awful long time to be producing content on a subject you have no interest in. Blogs fail for a number of reason but I would say a lack of interest in the subject would be number one.
