Thread: what does it mean to ping your blog?

and how would i go about doing that? my blogs are with blogger

Pinging a blog basically means to submit it to a blog directory. When you make updates to your blog, you can ping it again so the directories become aware of the updates.

There are 2 scenarios.

1. Pinging a blogging service ( like Google Blog, Ping-o-matic etc ) you are notifying this services about your blog updates & changes.

2. Pingback - This is a method used on blogs to see who is linking back to your articles. It's like specifying you're source.

Pinging a blog means notifying blog sites and directories about your latest posts.

You can use web based software like pingoat.com or pingomatic.com to ping lot of blog sites in one go.

Great links..I been mainly using pingler.com more options for pinging! I also uncheck the site that automatically ping my blogs! Don't want to " ping spam" my blogs!

it only mean that you are saying to blog dirs and search engines that you done something new on your blog. I usually do this using pingoat.com

The cool thing about pinging is the directory will update your listing each time you add a new post to your blog.

This is right.. I usually ping my blogs whenever I have updated them with new posts or articles.

Not sure, but it means that it notifies some directories about your latest blogs.

Pingign means to submit your blog site and it also allow update your existing sites.

try autopinger.com

I recommend autopinger.com

Pinging a blog means submit it to a blog directory, if you use the wordprss, there is an automatic ping tools in the setting opinion.

As blogger, i really dont know how to set the auto ping.:happy-f:

Thats it!

Why should you Ping? Sending a Ping to a site increases your chances of getting traffic to your blog. One site that does a fantastic job of this is Technorati. The site stores your blog in their database and ranks your blog along with people who find it interesting. So if you are interested in getting your blog and name out there then Ping away!

Just visit Pingomatic.com and you will know how.

The more services you can ping, the better - it means that your post will get out to that many more places.

If you have a Wordpress blog on your own domain, you can enter an entire list of ping services. When you publish a post, it will automatically ping all the sites in that list. I have about 25 on mine.

You'll find this in your admin area under : Settings : Writing - at the very bottom of the page there is a huge blank window. It might have 1-2 ping sites in it already. Here's my list - copy and paste it into your ping list:

You can still ping your blogger blog by going to pingomatic or pingoat and placing your url and blog title and then hitting ping.

This can give an announcement to the blog sites and crawlers that you have updated your blog and will crawl it immediately.

At blogger..you have the option to "ping" to Weblogs automatically.
Look at "settings" and then "basic"

If you select "Yes" we will include your blog in Google Blog Search and ping Weblogs.com. If you select "No", everyone can still view your blog but search engines will be instructed not to crawl it.

I always ping everytime i make some update or changes in my blog or site. It will trigger SE robot to crawl my site ...

This is exactly what it means to say pinging a blog. You should always perform this when ever you have new updates to your blog.
