Hi,
Just wondering if any of you have ideas on how to get comments at your blog? Right now I am seeing 500 UV a day but very few comments. Would like comments to go up. Any one got any tricks or advice for this.
Thanks in Advance.

You could always join the "do follow" movement.
Get yourself some good spam protection if you do!
but if you use "do follow", your site lost some weight.

i ask them to respond at end of my post with link #respond or #postcomment
works on single post page only.
So i make sure to put <!--more--> before this link.

I usually ask a question at the end of blogs...gets some people commenting.
Usually it's just something like "Do you agree with what i've said?"
Oh and always reply to comments - creating comment discussions is always good.
make your blog dofollow and people will start commenting on you blog

make your blog dofollow and [strike]people[/strike] webmasters [strike]will[/strike] might start commenting on you blog
Do you comment on blogs only because they provide you with a link or touch you on some basic human level?
Touch people on some basic human level and you might be lucky enough to be left a comment by them.

I agree I'll take people over PR any Day.
I ask for them to respond all the time like whats your thought on this.
But why use the <!--more--> tag???
Well I try to do that as an example. On my celebrity passing I get few comments but I have seen on some sites where people have typed just RIP as a comment or something small and have over 30+ posts.
On other sites I have seen people type first just to be the first person to reply to the post.
This is what I am trying for.

Generally you'll only get people commenting first to be the first person if your blog is really active and gets a lot of comments really quickly. Guess people just turn it into a wee competition or something.
Making your blog dofollow (I don't think) will help you much. Unless your blog is aimed at webmasters/marketing people of course. Making a blog dofollow other than that is just asking for spammy comments all the time from marketers/webmasters for links back and I don't think they benefit any blog really.
From writing a blog for a while now i've noticed that I get more comments on the newer posts I make - probably because i've built up a community of readers who are interested in the subject at hand. As I said before I also find that when I ask questions throughout the post (one or two at most...don't want to flood readers with questions) you get more comments because they answer the questions.
I also find that I get more when I write a blog that is worded as if it was written by a normal person (I say normal, I really just mean that it's not professionally written), just so it doesn't sound like an essay or something. Guess it makes people feel like they are actually talking to a person if they comment or something like that.
It's a shame I don't own the bloglol, still get paid for it
Honestly, i'd just concentrate on writing good posts that people can read easily and not worry about comments - they will come as your blog progresses.

Definitely reply to comments, and I'd suggest switching to DoFollow. I could care less about pagerank, as long as I'm getting returning visitors. I don't even have AdSense, I'm perfectly happy with a non-profit blog. But that's just me. :P

Most the comments I get are from spammers![]()
Hello, I am Brandon & I've been offering Web Services since 2006
We're building the largest, friendly General Forum on the net.
Are you running a successful forum? If so, I'd love to blog about it.
I agree with you people are visiting to comment and try to live on there link.
I don't think so you must use akisme software for spammer and more over it increase your visit and googlle traffic.
Yah, When people comment on your blog they appreciate you or discuss about your blog issue and i am always agree with discussion is goodand help your writing and content.
Participating on some related blogs and commenting on them can really increase your visibility within your blog network.I guess that's the best thing you should do. And also, try to make your content, stories, or whatever post it is more interesting so that people would comment on it..

Making the links Dofollow will make the blog miraculously have hundreds of comments...mostly posted by machines. You will have a lot of spam to come on your website. Some blogger i know that has a PR3 website and Nofollow comments has 50 comments a day (95 per cent of them being spam). Just imagine that number on the same dofollow blog.
Talg added 0 Minutes and 40 Seconds later...
To sum it up, you will have a lot of comments but to many to deal with.

You may also leave an interesting questions at the end part of your post. This may also help attract more readers to leave some comments..
Ask questions including specific questions in posts definitely helps get higher numbers of comments. I find that when I include questions in my headings that it is a particularly effective way of getting a response from readers as you set a question in their mind from the first moments of your post.
you should add the do follow attribute to your blog to get moe comments
