Thread: How to become a freelance writer ?

How a freelance writer get paid? Through paypal ? Do they get paid before they submit their works to the client or after? Please tell me in detail about how to start this business online. :devlish:

It really depends on the client how they want to pay you. This goes for pretty much any work you do freelance, but i'll try aim it more at writers.

If it's online work you are wanting to do with people hiring you from all over the world for non-regular work then it's probably best to use paypal or a similar payment processor.
If it's offline work and you can meet the person then they might prefer to pay you in cash, with a check, a bank transfer, etc.

Generally people don't like to pay for something until they receive the end product, but asking for some of the money up-front is usually the best practice (it sorts out the scammers trying to get you to do something for them and then not paying for it when they receive it.), especially if it's a large amount of work/money.

All very good points tsdesigns. Downside for writers. Because of so many bad ones it is hard for you to get money in advance. Make sure you have samples of your work.

Another idea to get started is to make up like 5 article packets in a niche sell them in a group.

wow,so broad subject.It depends.When there's a need and chance,you can gain some
money for writing special materials for the guys in need.As to the payment way,it also
depends.They can talk it over with each other.Some customers would like to pay a part
before you work,and give you the other part when the task is finished.

i don't think it's possible to get some money before you submit your articles. But ingeneral if you search better on the net, you'll find lots of offers to write some special information.

That is why sometimes we don't get paid!

what i would recommend is to do the work the screnshots of several lines and and send the buyer a jpeg demo then when payment is received send the document

also with the the document give them a txt file in which you have your terms and conditions.

Well you can be a freelance writer their are loads of such in getafreelancer and a lot of freelance site what is important as a writer is you must know were to go to work since some clients are scam

I believe that people who look to hire a writer will ask for a portfolio. I think that you need to start writing a good blog with good content (pit a banner advertising your services on every page). Also you need to write articles and submit them into article directories (put some information about the author in the bottom and a link to your blog).
Doing this you'll not only create a portfolio but improve your writing skills.

If you want to make money as a freelance writer, you're going to have to show your editor that you're better than all of the other writers and there's no way to do that other than to simply work to improve your writing.

You need to signup for freelancer website like getafreelancer, joomlancer , scriptlancer etc. In that you need to search for content jobs, after that you will need to bid on that job and provider with choose the bid, if your bid will be selected than you will be paid by provider after task completed.

the most common methods that freelancers get paid with is either Checks or through PayPal while you are paid for writing article in most cases after the article has been accepted.

There are lots of freelancing sites that can pay you upfront through escrow and some pays after you have done the job. Paypal and credit card like payoneer are the common options of payments.

For me I prefer to submit the article first before payment but the problem with this is there will be a high possibility that the writer will not get paid. Just join and work on freelance sites that will be much safer.

To become a freelance writer you must also spend a lot of time marketing yourself and your work, paying careful attention to business details such as quarterly taxes, and staying ahead of ever-changing trends in all areas of publishing.Also you have to be honest with yourself about the quality of your writing skills.

There are different free lancing website , you can get register there and get the trust of buyer by providing quality work. Then you will get free lancing project and people will contact you for work.

wooh!well it depends on how you get the deal,I mean first you need to have a prospect client,a portfolio,the samples and ofcourse the proof,then you need to create a contract and agreement,if your client agrees to pay 50% before you get the ball rolling then it's good.

Just a suggestion, but before worrying about getting paid for your writing, consider never posting a sentence anywhere that reads, "How a freelance writter get paid." Once basics in grammar and syntax are under control you can respond to queries from prospective clients with rate requirements for your work. Often, clients will pay via paypal or check mailed to your physical address.
