how to increase or maintain the google page rank of wordpress blog?

In my experience, it is the same for any site regardless of platform. Get a bunch of links from as many different sources as possible, then let time take care of the rest.

When you say frequently, what are we talking about here. Daily or is weekly sufficient? I'm still very new to this.

Updating frequently doesn't mean to fix a time to post a content no matter if it is required or not but to update your blog with the thing that must be there in timely manner.
Fresh contents and quality backlinks are important to get valued by the search engines and audience as well.

Back links are important But you also need to have links to other sites too.

If you have all internal links you will not get a decent page rank .

Build a lot of backlinks. Much better if they are related to your niche.
But I definitely suggest you to worry more on traffic rather than page rank.

- You need good backlinks ( PR2 and higher )
- You need unique content
- Submit your xml sitmap to yahoo / google
- Provide with daily submission / posts

Remember, a good valid page rank takes time (3months minimum)

If you get more permanent backlinks to your site and your links is alive for more period, your blog rank will improve.

I would say that adding new, original content is the key. I had sites with almost no back-link but PR4. So.. content is key.

You can post blogs regularly. It takes time. You should be recommended by other bloggers as well. You may give and take link back with geniune bloggers.

Keep building back links, gradually and patiently. Have good content so that others will want to link back to you, making your life easier

yeah this is true...it is a tedious task but it pays well

@xmsmmgrs that's interesting, I would have thought that backlinks would work better than frequent updating of content..but then, maybe your blog is amazing and you simply have lots of word of mouth followers.

If page A is pointing to page B then page B's pr value will be increased, how much? this depends on page B's own pr value. So try to get some backlinks from high pr pages.

Page isn't that valuable to spend your time focusing with. Anyway, you can increase it by having links from site with high PR than your site is. But on-page optimization has nothing to do with PR.
