    Default Two AntiVirus programs

    Hi

I have come across user pc's with more then one Anti Virus software. One may be AVG anf the other Norton.

It is always best to have one installed to prevent conflicts between the two

Some have managed to get two working together but there is chance that both will conflict and fail.

Anyone have more then one Antivirus software installed?

It doesn't make sense to use two unless your seriously nervous or not satisfied fully with any single AV program.

I use AVG and love it. Its free, its updated daily and its stable. It works fine in Vista 64 as well.

i agree Chad...i really don't see a point in more than one antivirus program. If you are that insecure about one of them that you think you need a backup...you might just want to drop that first one...

I use AVG as well, norton is just too big of a memory hog.

Yeah I couldn't imagine why you would need two, but if I was super duper cautious, Norton would be my last choice as #2.

Not only do you not need two, you shouldn't use two.
I have also come across a few PCs with two antivirus programs installed and that is precisely the reason I came across them. User installs the second AV program and Windows grinds to a halt while two different AV engines try to take control of and scan the same file.

Norton, McAfee and Avast won't let you install more than one. At least the last time I tried it wouldn't

Another vote for AVG. Also Avira is good (and free). I dumped both Norton and McCaffee 'cos they just got too big, too controlling took too much resources.

But you know the real answer: GET A MAC

The only reason you can say that right now is because nobody has one.

The truth of the matter is that any hardware that runs software is susceptible to viruses.
That includes MACS, Linux, Cellphones, Cars, Etc.
(These days, maybe even your razor or your toaster) LOL!

95% of the computers out there are Windows PCs.
Virus writers know this, so they target Windows PCs.

If someone is writing a virus and they want to do as much damage as possible, it would be pretty dumb to target 5% of computer users, wouldn't it?

I use AVG reason is it is FREE! And it serves me well, why should I pay for something that will do the same thing as AVG except that it cost money?

MAC has no virus but it is expensive compared to a Windows PC.

AVG free for me. It does slow down my Athlon X2 5600 a bit too... can only imagine what two AV programs would do.

Been using AVG for a few years now... cant remember ever having a virus cause problems.

You cannot have 2 anti-virus running at the same time, it's not recommended.
for Windows the best I have found is AVG-Free.

I also do not see any reason to install more than one antivirus. It won't give a great result, and may be even will not work as it can work. So my opinion is do not panic with antivirus choice and just work with any of it.
