I bought a Logitech Orbit MP webcam, still sealed, off eBay for $42 (which included s&h). This webcam features face tracking, motorized pan/tilt, and digital zoom, still photos up to 4mp (interpolated), 640x480 30fps video.
When it arrived, I immediately followed directions to install it on my Windows XP Home Edition PC. This was at 2pm on Monday. By 10pm Monday night, I was ready to throw my computer out the window. I just could not get the PC to recognize the webcam not could I get the driver to install.
After checking the (unofficial) support forum, I saw that they may have shipped an incompatible version of the driver/software on the CD so I followed instructions and downloaded the "correct" version as per the online suggestion, did a clean uninstall and attempted to fire-up the webcam.
Still no luck! The software loaded, Windows recognized the camera, but all I got in the software was a black screen and no red light or movement on the camera.
Here it is Wednesday night.. I finally decided to reinstall XP after a HD format and THEN try an install of the driver and software.
Voila! It works (kinda).. face tracking and special effects don't seem to work, audio needs tweaking.. but I can use the software interface for pan/tilt and zoom.
Long story, short: don't buy this webcam unless you have more patience than I do!
