    Default Any OC'ing geeks?

Does anyone here over clock? :smiley-e: I figured why not be just a hard drive killer when I can be a CPU killer as well :laugh-e:

I've always been fascinated by it but never really got into it per say...I.E. spent big $$$ on HW geared specifically to OC'ing.

I'm doing a mild OC ATM, from bios changing the FSB from 200 to 210.

in the process I came across 2 really slick progs, cpu-z & HWMonitor

they give you a plethora of info...really cool.

I did an html dump if you want to see what cpu-z gives you in the way of specs, even gives you the RAM info!!...wicked! :afro:

first and foremost you need to make sure the CPU's temp is not off the charts...have to do a search on that and see what the normal operating temperature is.

if you have a mid to high range MOBO, the m,fg might even provide a OC utility on their website and you can OC from windows. otherwise you're looking at adjust the setting from within your bios.

so I restarted my machine, hit del, and then found the voltage and Freq control...found the CPU's bus speed, the default is 200, I change it to 205 rebooted and then once convinced it was stable I did the same thing and now I am @ 210.

and really the best way to check stability is to run a benchmark program that really stresses the CPU/Mem but I have not done that yet...stable for me is no blue screen :shocked-e:

Depends on the vid card, some 'last i did it' you had to download hacks for the registry and or third party software.

betchu anything it's memory related...not being match pairs, 2 diff mfgs, and so on.
