Thread: Need Cooling Pad Recommendations

My cooling pad just died... not good, my notebook gets very hot on it's own and slows right down, we're having real issues with one another right now. mg:

Anyone have good cooling pad recommendations? I was using this, Specification TA0248 TARGUS PA248 CHILL MAT NTBOOK COOLING PAD

I didn't realize how much I depended on it til today when I noticed how hot the notebook is, how slow it is and happened to look at the pad and see the fans weren't spinning. :evil:

Can you clean or replace the fans?

I just (before posting) removed the 6 screws, the thing refuses to open, the fans don't seem too dirty, can dirt really stop them from spinning though? I think the motor itself died. I only had the thing a few months but it was going non-stop, well except when I sleep.

Yes dirt can cause friction, cause them not to move. Fans can also be lubed 'temporary fix' and or replaced 'in some cases'

Why not try searching for the model number and see if others have had problems. Warranty?

I've been looking, I believe it was refurbished, I don't have what it came with. I see one comment in Google about it not working after two months but the comment seems deleted from the site is was on.

The warranty was 90 days anyway, I've had it longer.

There's one in Heartland (Britannia & Mavis) and one across from Sherway Gardens.

Yep, will be hitting the one by Sherway, haven't been to a movie in ages, our theatre is up that way so maybe tomorrow night.

hmm... a cooling pad, my laptop really needs one... i never saw one here in uae though

costs from shipping from US or canada would kill me :S

That would smother it, not cool it.

Didn't even realize they made cooling pads for laptops until I read this thread I might just have to get one for my Acer, it gets kinda hot especially if it's not on a flat surface like when I'm in bed, my lap, etc...

I only heard about this cause I'm an X-Files fan. Dean Haglund (Langley-the blonde one) designed it. He's a comedian too.
