    Default Video overheated! =(

Well I do a lot of online gaming. and just the other day my video card overheated big time. It melted the solder on the board and caused one of my copper spun posts to fall off. Burnt my hand when i went to pull it out of the system too. video cooler was working perfectly fine so i have no clue why it overheated. Now saving up for new vid card.

Had the card for about 3-4 years now.
Video card was a radeon 9800 pro 128 mb agp. with an arctic cooler on it rev 3.

anyone else ever have a problem like this with a video card overheating?

Nope, that's odd. 'usually' the heatsinks on the vid cards will take most of the heat. Not to say they wont get hot, or overheat, just to the point of melting is odd.

I've put extra heat sinks on my vid cards in the past, might want to look into it yourself

well when i got the card i took off the factory heatsink and replaced it with the arctic cooler. the heatsink is huge and covers the whole care just about. the fan has 2 settings. high or low. i've always had it on high when in games and low when doing something else.

Which makes it even odder, I wonder if the heat sink didn't properly make contact with the card, or perhaps something else happened.

i figured the card was about to go. I was having problems with it saying the molex connector wasnt attached even when it was. Had to play with it a bit sometimes to get it to work.
