Looks like everyday we need more and more big hard drives 6-7yrs back when i started using computer ,just 30 GB hard drive was far more sufficient for me .
Now i have 300+ GB hard drives but still not sufficient for me .So WTF, how big is your hard drive? Does Size matters for you? Are your satisfied with your hard drive.

I started with a tiny harddrive, about 1.8GB

Now I have a bit of storage space. My desktop has 380GB storage in total and my laptop if you include my external comes in at 360GB. Size does matter to me but I probably don't need all the space I have.

Shoot when I started a 512mb was big. I think I still have one of those ancient things in the closet lol. Right now I have 2 250 gig drives in my system. 200 gig in the pc in the other room. And a 160 in another system.

I got over 650GB in total from external and both PC's, but it won't last long i can assure you.

I have a 260.

I wanted it sooo badly.

I have over 195gigs in movies.

Yeah, it's a notebook. I don't put anything big like that on it.

Now, I have 6 desktops and one notebook in the house with a total storage capacity of around 2 TB.
I need more space. :evil:

My new desktop is 500 GB, new laptop 160 GB. Both are split between Windows and Linux the desktop has 100 GB for XP and the rest is for Linux, my laptop is split equally between Vista and Ubuntu.

My old desktop was only 80 GB, and I never filled it even with lot of photos on music. I suppose I've always been a good house keeper, I delete stuff I don't need, resize photos to make the file smaller, and re-encode MP3s to make them smaller file size wise.

Out of everything on my desktop's file system, a directory called website backups takes up the most space which is about 10 GB. Music & Photos are about 5 GB each. I'm thinking of getting an external HD for backups even with double layer DVD-R's backups are becoming a pain in the arse.

It was a local computer shop, 2 day sale.

Short on cash at the time, otherwise would have definitely bought it.

Size is hugely important. I have 700 GB of hard drive. You can never have too much storage I always say.

I am using a 80GB Hard Drive and It's sufficient for me. I dont store much in it. I have two os installed. 3 Partitions and few software backups Size doesn't matter to me. I keep backups in CDs/DVDs mostly.

My Dad had a Timex Sinclair ; I found it in the closet . I don't know how much memory it has but researching tells me that it had a 16k expansion on it .mg:

Laptop, have a 500 gig usb drive and several network systems I can dump files off on at any time.

I only have 160GB and not satisfied with it, planning to upgrade with 1TB maybe.

250 GB x 2, plus a 320 GB external USB2

My "mess around with" PC:
120 GB

My Fiancee's PC:
80 GB (hell, she doesn't even use a fourth of it)

My Kid's PC:
80 GB (plenty for her, as I have to reinstall everything about once a month, due to her trying every download available out there)

Old PC in garage:
80 GB (just an old piece of crap I keep out there, so I can check scores on games while im out there working)

Whats all your storage consist of?

400GB HDD (Main HDD)
200GB HDD (External)

Still using up the External hard drive.

mine is only 150g , depends what you use it for, if you download movies and stuff, it does take quite a lot of space, but usually i just delete them after i watch them to save space
otherwise i think you dont need more than 100g to store your files

250gig but I'm only using about half of it, so I'm happy with mine

The annoying thing is when you go out and buy a complete new machine and think well i will get a top of the range ish spec one and then no sooner have you got it working technology moves forward a giant leap and it is no longer top of the range ish spec.

I have exactly 200 gigabytes of space and I didn't even use 60% of it yet.

I don't store any movies, games, or any software on my hard drive, so I don't use my space.

i have 180.

250gb and happy about it, so far

I added a 500 to my pc the other day, but I did lose 300 the other week.

The way I look at it:

I would assume that in the next few years storage needs will increase quite a bit. For example, in my house:

-Any new cd I buy, I rip.
-I keep a master archive of all pictures I take with my digital camera (this grows pretty much daily)
-Every video I take gets archived too.
-Fiancee has a membership to a game site, where she gets to download one new game a month.
-Daughter saves all her digital pictures like I do.
-Every logo, banner, graphic I create for anyone, gets archived on my hd
-A copy of every web site I ever build, and a data base backup for each.
-etc, etc, etc

I see the need for massive amounts of storage in the home increasing something like ten fold in the next few years.

And I am not ever counting if you download your rentals from netflicks!!!
