    Default Apple Mac Mini?

    Hello

I'm curious as to how many of you own Apple Mac Minis? I'm going to be buying one shorty, as soon as I have the money to pay for it.

Before I do, I was wondering what you guys could tell me about it? What's the Pros/Cons? Is it worth the money? Etc.

Before anyone tells me to, I'm not going to buy an iMac, Power Mac, MacBook Air or whatever because I can't afford it at the moment. So I'm going to start off with the Mac Mini and I'll upgrade in a few months if I like it.

    Thanks in advance
    Josh

I'm not a MAC guy, but a guy I work with/for has one of these...

The Apple Store (U.S.) - MacBook Air

Super thin and really sharp looking!

He runs WindowsXP under an emulator on it and it runs faster than the best PCs we're using.
The emulator boots XP in about 15-20 seconds! mg:

I've only ever used a mac but once. Well more then once but it was required. That was back in school. You could put me on a mac now and I would be totally lost.

The MacBook Air is a great example of what the future holds when it comes to portable computing. It's a fantastic piece of engineering.

Anyway, about the Mac Mini, I have decided to buy one in about a months time if I have the funds to pay for it. Will have to see how much work I get.

I wonder how well the macbook air will handle abuse.
I had a 'superlight' before, nowhere near as light as the air and it was something to be desired when it came to durability.

I've been thinking about getting a mini just play around with a mac again, if for what ever reason I don't like OS X I'll use it as a dumb file server.

The prices on Apple's site seem a little crazy for extra RAM. I'd probably buy the base unit and buy RAM aftermarket if I decided to use as my day to day PC.

The cool thing is my new monitor has both VGA & DVI inputs. My desktop is connected via VGA, I can just plug the mini in via DVI and switch inputs at my leisure.

Personally, I wouldn't buy an Apple computer and then go and put Windows on it, that would just seem pointless.

BTW, I was just poking around on the Apple store by the time I pimp the Mac Mini with 2 GB of RAM and a few extras it's not much cheaper than a 20" iMac.. Hmm something to think about next time I get my fingers on a nice chunk of cash.

My days of investing in HCPC are over, somehow it all disappears and I'm left with swollen ankles. mg: I did score 10 bags over the weekend though.
