Thread: Which is the best Antivirus Software?

Iam using Norton03 for tha last 4-5 years and so far it is good. I would like to change it as it is an old version.

I heard that Norton05 using more memory and AVG is not efficiant.
I had installed AVG for a test in a system and my Norton found few virus while copying files from that machine. Norton's Auto Protect is good and will delete or quarantine everythig.

Does anyone have experience with Norton AntiVirus 2009 ?. or any other Antivirus Software ?

Kaspersky is better antivirus software.I am using kasper for my computer.

Avira is also good.

I hate Norton. It is a resource hog and it does not stop everything. I have used System suites for five years and never had a problem.

I've used Avast for years and it's great.

A second for Avast. I've tried others but always come back to Avast...

Yes norton is bloated and a resource hog. I would not recommend it to anyone. NOD32, Avast and AVG are all good.

I'm using Avira myself, no complaints..

I don't use any as I have a mac, although if I upgrade to a newer mac that runs windows and pc software, I may have to consider it.

I had problems with blood hound and AVG was not effective.
I donot know about Avast and Avira.
Hope they are not using much memory.

I use AVG, I uninstalled norton because it was way too big. I use the paid service, it is excellent, but even the free one worked well with spybot to back it up

norton was a resource hog, but I never got a virus while it was installed... as opposed to "trend" which didn't seem to do ANYTHING... then again, maybe I had it configured incorrectly or something.

I've used Nod32 for 2 years because it wasn't requiring a high number of resources. Anyway, starting 4 months ago I'm using, you won't guess ... AVG Anti-Virus Free which I believe it's great.

i always have problems with norton i tried Avast adn am sticking with it.

You are at a big mistake . Norton is a system hog ,except the latest Norton Internet security 2009 . Use kaspersky Internet security for complete system protection if your are using windows

In my opinion kaspersky is best antivirus software.

Last year, I had an extremely nasty Chinese trogan infection with 7 computers affected and most of my USB flash drives and hard disks affected. Most antivirus software I tried including Norton could not detect it. Kapersky could detect it but could not eradicate it fully. Only NOD32 was able to effect a complete eradication. Morover, it was much faster than Kapersky or any other software.

I wouldn't use norton if someone payed me:slaugh:

I am quite impressed with the latest Norton. I also used to consider them to be a resource hog but the latest version has been great, for me anyway. It's neat how it has a CPU usage graph on the interface, so I guess they know people refer to them as a resource hog, currently Norton is using 0%, the most I seen it do was 8% but I don't watch it all day.

My only fear was its memory usage , otherwise Norton is the best and it protect me from internet spywares and adwares several times.

BTW, are you using Norton 2009 ?

Yes, it's 2009, I run several programs at once a lot of the time and have had no problems.

As for me I'm using Kaspersky for many years.
The latest versions of this software (from 6v) are pretty good in using.
And my old PC likes it

I think Kaspersky is at the number one position in the best anti-virus for the year 2008 but I prefer Avira AntiVir

I am usin nod 32 antivirus. I think this is the best antivrus. Its scanning speed is very fast.

I do not recommend Norton, it uses way too much of your pc. I currently use Trend Micro. No big problems yet.

If I could Thank my own post I would. :goofy:

My new macbook has a pc side to it now running XP as a virtual machine with VMware Fusion 2. I've just tested it with Avast and it's clear. After that I took a "snapshot" of the system as it stands now, so if it gets a virus in future I can just roll it back to that point in time.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 FTW

i use avg . its free and very good

I use Avast on all my computers. It is free and requires small resources of the machine. Updated daily

For me, I use AVG.. Aside that it's for free, it also works efficient to track virus..

yep that will be my suggestion to everyone it is light weight..and it'll track the latest.I use the corp edition.

There's no "Best Antivirus" out there... just really bad and nasty viruses..

Antivirus software choice is just a matter of personal preference, the money you have (if you prefer commercial antivirus over the free ones), and the resources your computer have (some antivirus are memory hogs)..

I think NOD32 is the Best
because i am running it on my 1 ghz with 128 mb RAM pc and it never slow down it..
use nod32 2.0 if u have 1 ghz or slower pc instead use the latest version..
give it a try my friend and u will never change your AV

yea but nod32 can always give false positive.

Who's making these nasty viruses though? Do you think there's any truth to the rumours that it's the people who make the AV software who are actually making the viruses? After all, if there were no viruses they would be out of business. :sneaky:
