I'll be in the U.S. in November and laptops are cheaper there than in my country. A friend of mine told me to go for a Toshiba. My question is: which one should I buy and where?

Buying a laptop really depends on what you want it for.
Personally I want a netbook (I was looking at getting the Samsung N310) because all I want it for is a very portable laptop (i.e. small - it's got a 10.2" screen I think) that I'd only really be using for taking into university, writing up notes, maybe a little web programming on and of course to surf the Internet.
But you might want it for other things in which case a small laptop like that probably isn't best.
I just bought a netbook. 10.1" screen, solid state drive 'kinda small' 16gb fur for the purpose of the netbook it's fine. Ran me $250!

It's a refurb running xp, but it's a nice little system IMO
I already have a netbook (Asus Eee PC), I carry it with me everywhere (on the train, on the plane, at work) but I need a bigger one for home (I don't have a desktop). All I do is surf the boards, do some research and chat.

Hi,
I really like my litter Acer.

My current laptop is an Acer Aspire 3681, I bought it 5 years ago but I had to add 1Giga memory and it's getting old ...
I want the Sony VAIO VGN-T350P .. But seems it cost to much.Well if you are going in US, you should ask your relatives out there.

What I'm looking at getting (if I can earn enough money to get it):

I'm happy with my dell xps myself
Do you need a notebook or netbook? These days netbooks are becoming quite popular.Basic office tasks and net browsing can be performed very well through netbook and they are lightweight, cheaper will good battery life.
Samsung netbooks are quite popular NC10 and NC20 have received good reviews.
I still prefer Acer because it is much cheaper and you can easily buy another one in case it is no longer working properly but so far I am using it for almost 2 years now and I got no problem with it
Picked up a 2 gig chip for my netbook![]()
i have lenovo Y series.. the perfomance is too good.. i am very happy..

Sony computers are the best in my opinion.
I find a netbook really nice when you carry it everywhere with you but I don't have a desktop and I need a computer that is really easy for home. I don't work on it, all I do is chat and surf the boards, send and answer emails but that netbook keyboard is so tiny that I find typing on a regular keyboard much easier.
That Samsung Netbook looks awesome BTW.
GRIM, my boss has a DELL XPS, he's a gamer and really loves it!

depends what your budget is
toshibhas are fat and ugly
it doesnt matter because what is inside the laptop is the same in all.
so just buy something which looks good in your price range and you should be fine.
also make sure that you get windows 7
if price range 500 dollars get the dell inspirion
700 dollars get the dell 14z
if 1200 dollars get the macbook pro
If you are looking for a solid laptop (since you didn't mention how much is your budget). I prefer that you should buy alienware. It's quite expensive but it is a very powerful laptop.
i want to buy an acer.. i like the style..
I have DELL 1525 Series and it really works well for me.so quite happy with my DELL
Acer is really good![]()
I found a brand new off brand lap top. It works really well. I have never had any problems. The brand is ACER. I paid about $350 for it.
I just got a new Dell Studio XPS to replace my old XPS, much nicer..
Dell is a good brand but quite pricey
i don't have laptop![]()
If you're looking for affordable laptop you can try MSI laptops and my cousin bought MSI CX600 and CR600 Notebook PCs. So far, his laptop is good.
Toshiba is also wise choice... i am afraid that Toshiba gets low prices because Toshiba Laptops are considered as High Quality Laptops!
you should check out lenovo 3000 n200
Yup, laptops are more cheaper in United States. My friend had Toshiba and she's happy for her unit.
