Oh, thanks for sharing these tips - they are useful because the problem of clean keyboard is so actual for me![]()
Keyboards are so cheap nowadays, it's usually a better idea to buy a new one, however, if you still would like to clean it,
here is what I suggest:
1. Use a screwdriver, popsicle stick, or some other flat edged tool to Carefully remove the keys from the keyboard. Each key sits in a socket and they can be pryed out one by one with the exception of the space
2. Clean the unit iself by turning it over and shaking out any dirt or dust particles or by vacuuming it or blowing compressed air across it.
3. Wash the removed keys in a bowl of mild soap and warm water, rinse, and allow them to dry overnight. You can also use Windex or some other spray cleaner with a cloth if you prefer to clean them individually.
4. Reinstalling the keys is as simple as pressing them back in place until they click back into position. Just be sure to use another keyboard as a reference if you are unsure of the order and position of the keys.
thank for your tips its so helpful for me as i have 2 sys. so now i can clean them properly.
Not only was this practical, but FUNNY too.
The thought of putting somebody elses key's back slightly off.... that could be fun!
I am a touch typist, so I wouldn't notice....

Hi)
really thanks for sharing, the keyboard cleaning is my headache( i wanted to read smth about it for ages but have no time) and now i read your article) my laptop will be happy!
I clean my keyboard everyday specially when I'm at office. I used tissue and alcohol to clean it and also for the mouse.
I keep my keyboard always very clean. Its three year old but working as a new.
Thanks for sharing this article. Mine I used tissue and alcohol to clean my keyboards.
I was expecting more details on a article featured on yahoo. I'm evangelical about cleaning out my keyboard,
I unsecre the back off, and take off all the electrics, the rubber keyboard map and the key circuitboard stay dry and untouched, while i meticulously remove each key one by one, and then I put everything inside a bucket, and wash it with fairy liquid and a used toothbrush.. This take me around 2 hours but it's not in vain, I have a quite an expecive gaming keyboard from microsoft, and it's worth salvaging rather than throwing out and acquiring a new one.
I'm also a sucker for DIY so that affects me a bit.
I've used the compressed air duster from Memorex with good results to get dust and junk from between the keys, but what really bugs me is the top of the keys start getting "sticky" from oily fingers.
I've tried using a wipe, but every couple of years I just have to get a new keyboard.
Useful Tips..
Thanks For Sharing
you can clear the dust with the blower. the air pressure cleans it really well. I do the same.
I usually take off the keys and clean it. The most important thing is not to forget the order of the letters ))
