I have sold this twice on other forums so far. but thats it. The board is a mybb forum. It comes complete with the sql dump (very large) and all the admin details.

no it wasnt my forum. buddy of mine owed me money for doing work for him and offered me this sql as payment. Told me I could sell to make up the difference of what was owed.

I dont see why it isnt allowed. forum databases are sold everyday

I would hate to think I joined a forum and then either the owner or someone else started selling my details, etc to anyone who has the money.
Not once, but many times.
And to start getting emails from people and forums I have never heard of?

Man, I would be po'd enough to hunt down a lawyer right away!

As in, invasion of my privacy to sell my information!!!!!!!

Just because something is sold all the time does not make it right, or legal.

Depends on the terms of the forum you signed up at.

I myself would never sell customer/member information, that however does not make doing so illegal.

There is a difference between a forum being sold, and the database separate from the forum.

EG: WTF is sold to a new owner, no problem there.
WTF decides to sell the database to others, big problem there.

i have this database in all honesty most posts are from 2007

@ Dawg i can understand your feelings however people sell this type of databases all the time only thing you can do is join forums you can trust that your personal info will be safe

It depends on the terms, the information on the site belongs to the site, not the users.

I would not like it either, it however does not make it illegal.
