Thread: best control panel

i have signed up for a VPS,

and try many free control panel, but in most cases failed to install the control panel.

which is the best and easy to install and manage free control panel for linux server.

I've heard of xpanel and zpanel but not sure if they're around any more or if they're any good. Never used them.

cPanel is a paid control panel but it is one of the best.

As others have said, cPanel is paid. A decent free one is Webmin.

virtualmin. it's a webmin module. it is super nice.

CPanel is very user-friendly and probably the most popular amongst shared hosting providers these days.

For Linux, CPanel is the undisputed most popular and most useful probably.

I am actually glad my host gave free CPanel pre-installed on all of my Linux VPS. It just saves me a lot of installation time and it works great. When I resell of course all of my clients love it.

I love directadmin. I think its the best control panel and I have used both DireactAdmin, cpanel and Plesk.

Cpanel is great and easy to use for both sellers and users.

But this thread is asking about alternatives to cPanel. What are some other ones that haven't been mentioned here yet?

I heard FlexCP is a good free alternative. The UI is written in PHP and is very open source and I believe it has many similar features to CPanel.

We are yet to find any real "good" free panel solutions. CPanel is still the best with DirectAdmin slowly catching up.

I think DA is incredibly weak compared to cPanel, but I suppose is it the next most common favorite.

Very much agreed. Direct Admin has the basic tools but it doesn't have the advanced features CPanel has. The menus on CPanel go way more in depth and from my experience, the functionality is more complex which helps me as an advance user.

With most VPS suppliers you can get cPanel soo cheaply, so there's no real reason not to get that.

Knoxy is right. CPanel is so cheap now that it has become so common. There is no reason(s) a host can't be able to offer it or gain access to it. I would only use hosts with CPanel in this day and age simply because of the powerful functions.

Other control panels just don't have the power and features.

I like both Cpanel and Plesk, both very similar in look and functionalty

or try Kloxo... they have been working on the updates alot.. so try it on there demo page..

cPanel has the best developers behind it in my opinion. They are expanding into the Apple product line up with apps working on iPhone and iPad.
