    Default Blocking proxies....

Wondering what is the best way to rid myself of people accessing the site via a proxy - and the quickest way to remove them.

Just remember some users might not even be able to reach your site w/o a proxy

Not all proxy users are up to no good.

This is true...not all, but most Usually all you can do is block the IPs and detecting it can be pretty hard to do. Im going to have to check out detectaproxy.com

make a php script that gathers latest proxies from proxylist sites and then resolve each site's IP and ban them

What's wrong is that people tend to use proxies to circumvent IP bans. People who have been previously banned and want in again to spam you for instance.

That said, there are people who do use proxies for good. When I was still in uni there was no way to do the majority of things that I needed to without a proxy because they blocked almost everything that wasn't educational.

If you really need to block proxies look into installing mod_geop for Apache from MaxMind on your server. With one line of code in the .htaccess file for a site you can block well known proxy services and satellite Internet providers. It is free.

For only $5 per month for 1,250 queries you can add advanced proxy blocking. Details are at MaxMind - Proxy Detection
Vectro Web Hosting - Web hosting with solid tech support.

x Proxy Host - Affordable PHP proxy hosting with proxy-specific features.
