Normally what I use is the main domain I plan to use.
For instance my servers are ds1.webtalkhosting.com ds2.webtalkhosting.com ds3.webtalkhosting.com ds1.canterallc.com
It can be pretty much whatever you want, you could use bigbadserver.domain.com if you wanted.
I use 'ds#' as in Dedicated Server #

I plan to use this account for the proxy that Ill be getting from you.
so I need to add it on to an existing domain? I wanted this for the proxy I got from you, so would I have to add the VPS on to my existing site?
It's simply for the hostname, if the company you are getting the vps from is setting it up you should not have to worry about it.
For proxies a hostname in reality more than likely would not even be needed, but still have it done.

Oh, so i can just add the server to one of my existing domain names like vps1.animeepisodesblog.com?
Yes you could, do you plan on using that domain on that server?
If not you can simply edit your dns to point the vps1 to that server IP for the hostname.

No, I only plan to use the proxy site that I am getting from you on there
You can either use the proxy then, or use your other domain name and edit your dns zones to point the vps1 to the VPS server IP

I think i get it now so I input vps1.proxybytes.com when I am buying? Thanks for all your help Grim! As you can see Im still learning everything about webmastering
Yep that should work just fine![]()
If your VPS have Control panel you can set name server in there.
and point your domain to this IP of VPS.
Finish
Hostname can be anything. I named my server vortexThis has nothing to do with the nameservers like everyone's mentioned. That's registering your nameservers, not your hostname.
Registering nameservers is done through your domain registrar.
