Question Security and AV for server?

What do you recommend for security and antivirus for your server?

Are there any good free ones?

In my case, the server is:

    Red Hat Fedora Core 7

    If you have Cpanel

For this server, it's Plesk. I believe I'll need to use SSH and install the modules that way.

I wish I'd gone with Cpanel, as I'm more familiar with it. Ah well.

Plesk does have basic firewall and antivirus installed doesn't it?

GRIM added 0 Minutes and 30 Seconds later...

BTW I prefer cpanel over plesk by far. I've worked with both, I honestly do not like plesk

My webhost said not to worry about AV, since they scan the servers themselves. Same with security.

Although, I'm supposed to keep everything up to date.

I'm with you on cpanel. Plesk has nice features, but it seems to be lacking compared to cpanel. It's going to take some getting used to, this Plesk.

    1) If you have cPanel, make sure the ports on this page are open in your firewall: What ports should be open if I'm running my cPanel server behind a firewall?

    2) Install ClamAV: Clam AntiVirus

    3) Log in to WebHost Manager and go to Mange Plugins --> clamavconnector to associate ClamAV with WHM/Cpanel

    4) Make sure the option to deliver email if ClamAv is not running (under exim configuration setup, if you use exim) is checked.

cPanel users will have their mail scanned and you as the admin can scan the entire server.

ClamAV is widely used on Linux servers and moreover it is open source. My recommendation would be ClamAV
