Thread: What's everyone running

For a dedicated server now a days spec wise?
My sites don't take huge loads plus I split them up on 3 servers, so mine aren't super powerful.

Just wondering what everyone else is running atm.

Cent OS 5.3 I believe.

Intel Core2Duo E6750 2.66 GhHz
4 GB Ram 800 MHz

It's for web hosting and PHP proxy hosting.

About the same as I got, but I only have 2 gigs in each of my servers.

I think dual core are still the most popular configs, even for private dedicated servers.

They sure do appear to take more than the old p4's!

It even seems that Core2Duo can handle more than DualCore/Pentium D.

Big time, I ran old p4's, p4ht's, dualcore, core2duo's do much better

I have a Dual Quad Harpertown with 16 GB ram and 1 Terabyte hard drive.

I have CentOS 5 with Cpanel/WHM/Fantastico

Way too much power for me, I like to keep the servers small and split up for my needs

Well i got a load of accounts to. I try not to over populate tho.

Understandable I don't 'host' well a few accounts for some friends, but that's about it.

Usually the customers want multi proc multi core (4 core), 4GB ram and ~250GB raw disk. Anything less has pretty much gone the way of VPS (which is very cool).

for hosting company i run

amd phenoms 2.6 ghz
4 gb ram
1 tb hdd

for my sites i use
amd athlon II X 2
2 gb ram
250 GB hDD

cent os on all and cpanel in hosting and direct admin on mine

Yes, Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 with 4GB RAM and 2.5 GHz CPU speed is enough to handle more than 4 high-traffic sites. However, if you want more processing power and more uptime you can opt for cloud servers.

well, core2due and 4GB better performance

I am using wordpress powered by Bluehost.

Still using shared hosting ...

But i think i would be needing a V.P.S solution with in coming months

Recently received a suspension notice from my host stating that my account has been temporarily suspended
due to using ''too much'' of server resources

Dualcores are taking the major part of the server procvessors ordered, however sometimes quad cores and new types of processors are demanded.
