Post Is VPS hosting right for you?

VPS, or Virtual Private Server, means hosting of different entities for various customers, but all in one server. It enables the service provider to make a partition of a single server into many virtual servers. The customers would then share the server as a whole, which includes both the connection and the hardware. They would actually enjoy the same benefits as they would get in case of dedicated hosting like a file system and a private operating system, which gives them the freedom of safe access.

If you are planning to resell the hosting, you will have a greater degree of control on those services which you can offer, so it would give you a competitive edge over the competitors. For those web developers who are planning to develop a social networking site or a blog full of functions, VPS hosting would be the idle choice to go for.

Great opinion, you can also use a VPS when your memory usage and server load is more than what your shared hosting allows you. Usually you will get the notice from your provider. So don't just look at how much space and bandwidth is given.

    You are probably right.
But keep in mind that with VPS you need to have some understanding of how everything is setup and work. (Even with Managed)
So if you have no idea about VPS, Linux, control panel you are using, then its best for you to go with Shared/Reseller or Semi-Dedicated.

Yea... definitely the dedicated servers are the best amongst all the hosting types but however, if you require dedicated features and don't have a good capital base, then going for VPS Hosting would be the right choice. VPS also offers a secure web hosting environment as you expect from a dedicated server. You can secure your VPS in many different ways.

I apologize for what I'm saying but Mr. Nile Hadwards who opened this thread can be found in many forums posting duplicated content and opening meaningless statement style threads made only to feature his signature.

On the topic. I like VPS Hosting more than dedicated because it provides more flexibility and scalability to the users.

If your websites demand a dedicated than VPS is the way to go if you don't know anything about managing a server on your own.
VPS gives me some kind of reliability, security. I have used many shared hosts before and they used to suspend my account for misuse of resources and blah blah blah.
Ever since i purchased a small VPS I think I am in peace of mind.

I own a floral service and I started out with a small hosting package from myhosting.com.

As my business grew over the past 6 months, I switched over to a VPS server to get faster speeds for my clients to order flowers online. It is working out great now.

If I grow even more (which will be a long time) I am sure myhosting.com's dedicated servers will treat me right.

I wouldn't ever use shared hosting again since I switched to VPS I like the control I have with VPS and that there is ram that is dedicated to my sites ONLY
I prefer dedicated over VPS however a decent dedicated server cost considerably more than a VPS.

The speed itself is the huge incentive.

If only dedicated servers were in my price range! I need a dedicated server soon for my site.

Ya, VPS is right choice but for VPS setup you should know everything about vps so it will be easy for you to use this VPS hosting otherwise go for reseller or dedicated server.

Good point. Research, research, research is all I can suggest. You have to know the limitations of each type of hosting/technology. Your web site might reach a threshold faster thus making you ineligible to use VPS but instead a dedicated server.

Out of your very few posts, you already seem so knowledgeable!

VPS won't out do dedicated servers in space but who really uses that much space? VPS should be good enough for almost any site out there.

It is reliable and speedy. Good amount of space as well.

IMO still if you got the $ go dedicated.
My newest server I am pretty much 100% happy with, it is loading well over 100 sites for me w/o a hitch.
I have 2 other dedicateds yet, but one I have allowed someone else to take over, other is a mini back up which costs less than a vps.
I use that one just for backup purposes.

Very good point. If you have the cash go big but I just don't know if every business or person will have that type of money every month in this recovering economy.

VPS have grown to be VERY popular in post-recession economy I think. I know many people have stopped going to dedicated servers and have gone VPS to save on a monthly basis.

Exactly. Dedicated servers will cost more for more features but at the end of the day will the average business user ever really need that? VPS offers enough speed and stability I think after 10 months of use now.

The main reason of big popularity of VPS compare to dedi is the price. Sad but true.

VPS are the value leaders for sure. There isn't a comparison with dedicated servers at all because of how fast VPS has become and how much cheaper they are.
My VPS is faster than a friend's dedicated server and I pay less than 1/2!

For those web developers who are planning to develop a social networking site or a blog full of functions, VPS hosting would be the idle choice to go for.

VPS hosting bridges the gaps between the initial and the entry level web hosting plans and the co-location. While the former offers specified services like PHP/MySQL, etc., with limited disk space on a shared server, the latter lets you fully own and control the hardware, and just rent an internet connection and a rack space from the data center. A VPS would be the best option for you if you want to have a shared hosting plan, but your finances don’t permit you to opt for a co-location web hosting plan.

Some of the advantages of a VPS web hosting plan are listed below:
*It provides you with a root access which enables you to install and even configure any program that you wish to

*Many websites can be hosted through the virtual hosts provided by Apache

*You get many other services as well, like an FTP server, a mail server, and any server that you may need

*These servers can be used for storing files, as backup, or as anything as it might suit you

Virtual private server (VPS) is a marketing term used by Internet hosting services to refer to a virtual machine for use exclusively by an individual customer of the service. The term is used to emphasize that the virtual machine, although running in software on the same physical computer as other customers' virtual machines, is functionally equivalent to a separate physical computer, is dedicated to the individual customer's needs, has the privacy of a separate physical computer, and can be configured to run as a server computer (i.e. to run server software).

Right now, I can consider VPS hosting is the best option for growing business.

I think VPS hosting is more reliable and cheaper unlike shared hosting. And remotely you can have the full access to your Website not as like shared hosting.
