Thread: Alternatives to CSF

Im always a fan of trying new software does anyone know of a simler/better product than the csf firewall system (cpanel) ?


I do like csf but i dont belive one product is ultimatly the best at everything.

I personally think Cpanel is already the best out there and alternatives aren't going to be any better. My current VPS package has the CSF that is already an industry best in my opinion.

That being said, CSF is the best in my opinion and provides a great web interface.

To be frank my thread wasn't on about anything you mentioned there in fact its my firm belief your an employee of the said hosting company as EVERY thread ive seen you respond to ALWAYS has the same lines regarding them, this was meant to be a technical discussion about security interfaces NOT about a hosting company

You're smart to look for alternatives to see what is out there and keep your options open. I haven't used anything besides csf and I wouldn't switch from it simply because it works so well for me. It has WHM functionality and command line functionality. It also has a great config file. In the end it does everything I need and I know I can rely on it to protect my servers and customer's websites.

CSF/APF will always be the easiest but there are more advanced options out there, but require more in-depth knowledge of IPTables

Why would you want an alternative? CSF/LFD is the best for firewall and bruit force protection.

I am using CSF/LFD firewall and if I wan to choose alternative I would like to prefer APF/BFD. Both firewalls work fine without any issue.

Yes, there is an alternative for CSF, an APF firewall. But, most of the webmasters prefer to choose CSF as their primary firewall. CSF has an advantage that it can be used with cpanel/whm both. CSF is not just a firewall but more than that. It includes a security suite with many more features, especially for cPanel servers also, it can be install on servers not having control panel. It comes with a generic installation script for such kind of servers.

Whereas, APF is just a firewall that work on every server, with or without control panel.
