Thread: A bit overloaded

Something tells me this server of mine is a little over loaded ATM

Don't worry this is not WTF's server, or the new one where I gave free hosting. This is my proxy server.

People wonder why hosts don't allow proxies!

We NEED more power from the warp engines, Scotty!

But captain, the dilithium crystals are too hot now!

I have never had a server be this loaded. From what I know the measurement of '1' is 1 cpu fully loaded. This is a single cpu system 'yeah I know I should be running dual or quads' but for it to be under a load of 80's-90's even a dual or quad cpu system would be getting stressed from what I know.

Any experts know any different?

I cannot believe the server isn't tripping all over itself!

Is there any way you can limit the number of proxy users at any one time? That may help some.

A quad system would be stressed, yes, but not 80s and 90s.

I think I could, however I'd rather let the server work It's only proxies on it, nothing important.

lol yeah, but still it's unreal. None of my proxies are that big, I don't even have 20 of them on this machine. Maybe 12 or so not even sure, and for those kinds of numbers. Shows why most hosts will not allow proxies, imagine 1,000 resellers on a machine and even 12 of them running 20 proxies each! mg:

I finally had to reboot it, hit loads over 120!!! mg:

Hit loads that I viewed as hi as 140's! Took the server down a few times, froze up apache!

Removed some cpu intensive apps and it's a bit better now!

I reckon this was photoshopped!

Loads got worse and worse after that, moved some sites, changed some scripts, edited my php.ini and some other tweaks and at the moment they are a bit better.

Last 1 minute 0.28
Last 5 minutes 0.30
Last 15 minutes 0.37

I've had some high loads but nothing compared to that time frame. Since then I have done some more tweaking and balanced proxies between 2 dedicated servers, about to pick up a new more powerful server with 4x as much ram! Traffic is up but thankfully loads are down!
