Default Looking for a good, stable directory script

I am looking for a good directory script which has maximum features in core and also has lesser security problems or hacks.

I came across a few but wasn't impressed.

I find most directories require you to spend hours setting them up and then once you have spent time setting them up, there will be upgrade release, when again you spend countless time.

Is there any directory script, even paid, whereby these concerns are addressed?

phpld scripts, either the free version or the paid version, is the best out there bar none.

Easy to set up, easy to template.

I have used phpLD and it is good, I agree, there are a ton of scripts out there today though, you have to focus on learning one at a time!

There are some very bad directory scripts out there too so beware, the great thing about phpLD is the fact that it has an active support forum and many other directory owners hang there and are willing to help you!

The owner Dave Duval is a great guy too!

Yes, both the phpldlinkdirectory forum and the DP forum have a lot of members who not only can help you with phpld, but lots of people develop some good mods, most of them free.

Just a note, if you want to build a successful directory...a little effort would do wonders...

Hours shouldnt be a consideration if you want to learn as well as build...

Just setting a script would be the least for a directory owner..

I like to play around with the scripts i use and have like 5 dummy install for each before i was finally satisfied...a little freeky at time..hehehehe

I dont know how easy....but this is one script that i like

Do you know the names of any of the very bad directory scripts off-hand to warn us of and why they are bad?

Ask Nintendo, he installed two of them on WackoSEO before I forced him to take them down and put up phpLD

There are a LOT of bad scripts out there, stick with the 4 or 5 top ones and don't play with old ones that were only designed to be reciprocal link directories for old time SEO scams.

PS: Stay far away from reciprocal linking as a directory owner or a website owner, reciprocal link directories are only good for getting your sites taken out of the search indexes long term.

They are only good for those who have no hope to get ranked in the first place, drug store sites, gambling, straight affiliate pages and so on.

Reciprocal link directories are nothing more than link farms folks, being involved in link farm schemes will get your sites dropped into supplemental hell.
