I just became category editor for a major director with Page Rank of 7 (seven).
Let's not mention any names, so let's make this hypothetical:
The category is "Regions: North America: US: California: Localities: Sacramento: DJs"
When I took over the page (this morning), there were three broken links (dead sites) which I deleted. there were several mispellings which I corrected. I also approved several pending links which were awaiting approval!
I took the opportunity to add a few sites of "Sacramento DJs" who were not in the directory but should be there......now there are 11 links on the page! (This morning prior to my becoming an editor, there were 3 valid links and 3 dead links).
QUESTION #1: Is it in my best interest to populate the listings with my (friendly) competition, because it increases the Relevant key words on the page, and there is more Link Juice being passed?
Furthermore, I added a wee bit of content to the page, making a Category Description and Summary. Added some sub-categories (Karaoke), and added a link to "similar" category page with PR 4 (Regions: North America: US: California: Regions: Northern California: DJs).
NOTE: The "Northern California DJs" page has over 60 DJs listed, so the passing power of the links on that page is VERY diluted. I used to be ON that page but asked to be moved to "Sacramento" (the same time I applied for the Editor position). When I opened the Editor Page, my link was in the queue, awaiting approval for my new region.
Supposing I build my page to a similar PR of 4, with maybe 20 outbound links (currently there are 11), would that be optimal?
QUESTION #2: should I link from my web site (currently a PR3) to this page, for additional link juice?
