    Default DMOZ was my game.

Back in the day, I built several hundred sites for DMOZ and AOL. What are the hot directories now to submit great information-rich websites for free?

There is mainly hundredths and thousands of top link directories on the web with excellent ranking. Try Goggling for "Free to link directories", it should pull up list of popular directories where you could add your site.

Or take a look at this list also, which makes it easy to see a ton of directories and there PR, but I wouldn't trust there paid or non-paid because from my experience, that part is not kept up well.

I'm all about simplifying my business. Like I said, the list is nice and HUGE but it really does seem to not be all that accurate :P

Thanks for the directory guys. Really useful. BTW, how long does it takes to appear on DMOZ? I've submitted mine, but they have yet to contact me.

Dmoz takes at least 2~3 months to accept or reject your website and i doubt they will "contact" you, you need to check yourself.

Just like on my link directory, I thought I and my worker will be able to approve the sites within 48 hours and that didn't work. Then there was a delay announcement to 7 days approval time and now it takes about 1 month to approve all the sites.

So I clearly understand why Dmoz has so long approval time and it's much bigger than my link directory site.

It depends on the editor managing your category, submitting to a least popular categories gives you a higher chance of getting listed
