Thread: Why people like to create directories?

I know what are the importance of directory in SEO but I didn't get one thing in my three years career in internet marketing. Why people like to create directories? I know many persons who own more than 200 directories; I don't know why they invest their lots of valuable money for making directories.

Is it directory is good source of income? If yes, than which type directory is good for earning and for link building? Niche or General link directory

Online marketers need directories to increase traffic. Many people create more directories because they earn from submission fees. Just imagine how many people will submit to a directory. It is best to use niche directories with high PR that are related to your website.

Most of the directory have high visit rate from webmaster, webmaster need those link back to improve PR and SERP. So the directories owner take such opportunity to sell link.

Yes you are right, but i think most of directory owner like to earn money through Google ads. Is it Google ads helpful them to earn money? If yes than how much they earn approximately per day from single directory?

I agree with the trailblazer that online marketers needs traffic for there site and they use directories to get traffic.which helps to make money.
