    Default installing phpld2 issue

    I swear, if I could have just one install go smooth this month it would be nice. I was on a roll. I went to change out my first directory script to phpld2 free version. I changed the properties to 777 for:
    * include/config.php
    * temp/
    * temp/adodb
    * temp/cache
    * temp/templates

    go to pull up the install page and nothing? Does anyone notice something I didn't change permission wise? I can't find a real install guide except on some guys blog? Thats what i get for being cheap

    Did you upload the install folder?

    Permissions are correct.
    Just remember that after you set up the directory via the install, that you change the permission for inlude/config.php back to 644.

    ANd the libs folder, if not uploaded correctly, will get you nowhere.

    Need help, give me a holler (I am a pro at installing this version!!!!).

    Yes I uploaded everything it just doesn't come up I figured I was missing a permission, or something simple like that...but of course that would be too easy LOL. Back to the drawing board

    Is your program set to auto-detect the upload mode? There's 2 modes, they have to be uploaded in the right one. Is install in the admin folder with this one?

    OH, you are putting the script on a site that has another script already?

    Good luck!

    Myself, I would have cleaned the old script first to make sure it was not on the site at all.
    That means everything, templates and all.
    Make a backup of everything first, including the databases.

    What I had to do on one directory when I went from some directory script to the phpld.

    It was fun.

    Install is a separate folder with phpld.
    And it is best to delete once you have the directory set up.

    Now that is a new one on me, install modes.
    I just ftp into the domain and that is that.

    I did rip everything out first, literally crashed the site and re-est it up in my server so the ftp was clean. Thats my favorite part of having our own server!

    Hosting issue perhaps. I have installed it multiple times, never had a problem. I'd check with your host to make sure it's able to run it. That script is seriously a very, very easy to install program.

    I get it all installed, permissions set, and then the install page never comes up! My scripts I've been working with lately are working against me in installs

    You sure you uploaded them in the proper format? Otherwise I'd ask your host, might be something wrong on their end.

    The instructions you have are pretty much all that is given with them. The files need to be uploaded in standard formats as they would with any script, nothing special as they are sometimes called for.

    /*******************************************
    How to install PHP Link Directory
    @link http://www.phplinkdirectory.com
    ********************************************/

    Please read the README first.

    /*******************************************/

    Upload the files in the archive to your host.
    Change permissions on the following file and four folders to 777
    include/config.php
    temp/
    temp/adodb
    temp/cache
    temp/templates
    If the folders do not exist please create them.

    Access the Installer by trying to go to the directory.
    It should forward you to /install/, if it doesn't try
    typing in the url directly.
    For example, if I installed the directory in a sub folder
    of my domain it may look like this.
    http://www.ap0s7le.com/directory/install/

    Run through the self explained setup, if you have any questions,
    comments or suggestions stop by the forum.

    Thank you for choosing PHP Link Directory

    Kind Regards

    -Casey Wilson / Ap0s7le

    I'd contact your host

    Or as well delete all files and reupload, recheck permissions, etc.
    If you're having so many problems installing scripts I'd be willing to bet it's a hosting issue, or possibly you're not uploading certain files in the correct format.
