Hey normally paid directories are use for getting backlink from its home page so it help to increase the PR of site.

I don't really submit to paid directories, so idk if they bring traffic or not.. I would venture on no(unless it's the one in my sig

).. I would rather post a few articles at article directories.

I've tried paid directories before and gained lots of traffics also quality backlinks, but now I prefer using social bookmarking sites and other ways than paid directors, a nice forum may help to increase backlinks...

I used to get a little traffic from submitting to some of the more expensive paid directories. Now I find I get more traffic by submitting to less expensive but newer and actively promoted directories.

Paid directories are a good source to generate good and relevant traffic to your site. It also helps in getting good backlinks to your site. They give results and that's the reason they are not free.

I cant agree with this. Any paid directory can't make good traffic to any site. Only benifit is that it can make strong back link to your site coz lot of paid directories have high PR.

I don't receive any traffic at all. Not even from old, established directories. Maybe a few hits a month from yahoo but thats all.

hmnnn... i do not know because I've never been into paid directories.. why would I spend money when I can have back links and traffic for free.. well, we have different opinions

Often it is more of a cumulative effect. If you are listed in many directories, you will get traffic, even if some give you very little. Listings in niche and regional directories tend to provide more traffic overall, as well as more popular general directories when you are listed in a higher level category.

I submit only to free directory and don't get any traffic either..

I haven't tried submitting my site to paid directories.. Still prefer submitting to those free directories...

I used to get quite a lot of traffic from Yahoo and Looksmart in the days when directory results were put in front of the usual SERPS results. But these days are long gone.
