DMOZ Back In Business

I got an e-mail tonight.

DMOZ is open for editing again. I haven't logged in yet, but it would appear as if editors can edit again after almost 3 months.

Wow unreal that something such as that could happen in the first place. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing.

From what I've been reading, it was due to a breakdown after a long stretch of neglect.

Was a very recent development. I became an editor, literally days before the crash.

As time goes by and I become more familiar with DMOZ from the other side, I'll apply for more categories.

Webby that is actually a very good question. The few links I have there do not generate any traffic and push a little juice!!!

I think it depends greatly on what niche you are in if Dmoz or any directory generates any traffic. Some sites just don't appear to generate traffic via directories, while others do.
Webmasters may be a bit more willing to browse a directory for a service or script for example.

Dmoz and being listed in it still carries several benefits, auto links from other sites and services for example.

I get alot of traffic from many of the directories that I'm listed in, but I do not recall getting any from Dmoz, and I've been listed with them over 1 year.

DMOZ is like some 90 year old dude with enphazema on life support. You give him a few shots of something here and there, and he comes to life for a couple of hours
