Question DMOZ Listings on Webmasters sites?

Now I am wondering how these webmasters are able to have direct DMOZ listings integrated into their sites, they are even formatted to match their site's design.

Other than the color scheme, all the sites I have seen so far contain the same exact DMOZ listing.

Is this a service DMOZ provides for webmasters so that they can serve directory listings on their site or do they just copy and paste?

Not sure if it is of importance, but the majority I have seen so far are international sites.

    Much Thanks,

Anyone can download the Dmoz database and set up a Dmoz mirror. There are thousands of such sites and they don't really get much traffic if you believe Alexa. What are you planning on using it for?

I was wondering if a webmaster would be able to select specific categories and place those directory listings on their site, or you have to place the entire DMOZ directoty on your site.

Most of the sites will have the same DMOZ listing. It is fact that the directory listing will be served to their site.

You can display only a specific section if you want. You just need to filter it out from the entire directory.

DMOZ has a public license so use however you want, but its a waste of time as its dupe content.

DMOZ content is open source, anyone can copy its content. But from a SEO perspective, its useless.

I think that there was just a match, there are lots of different sites listed there.
But don't get warried about listing in it, because only links from 3 level gove a good traffic boost.

Well my site is in a very specific niche, so my logic was to create a set of directory pages which contain links that fit my exact niche....DMOZ has done the work for me and found great sites that it has in its listings which are niche specific in of themselves. Basically my assumption was that by adding them to my pages it would get me some relevent outlinks and also help with my ON-PAGE SEO by having the texts and keywords which are niche related in of themselves onto my pages, giving my page more overall keywords and presenting it in a way which is not spammy or considered keyword stuffing

oh ok, so a simply copy and paste of the DMOZ page's content of only the directory categories I desire would suffice correct?

Hmmm, how is this possible...? I am guessing downloading the database would be quicker and easier than copying and pasting each directory category listings, but then I would have the entire DMOZ database...my desire is only to have the listings directly related to biology and health science only.

Would still be interesting to know how it could be done, downloading the entire DMOZ directory, maybe could utilize it into another website.

    Thanks,

You can download the whole DMOZ databases here: http://rdf.dmoz.org/
Then you need to find a (PHP) script that uses that database to show the data/links on your site.
