How much is or in not excessive linking in linking directories?

If we are submitting our site to good PR dofollow directories thats enough. submitting site to number of directories with non related data is not required. It wont count in anyway.

Just submit your site relevant and high page rank deep pages are ok. Not so much excessive is needed

I would say submit to as much as you can because you want linkbacks. However, there are thousands of directories.. if time is something that you are concerning then I would suggest submit only to those that has good PR.

directories are fading out in value as new mediums become more widely adopted.

IE new web2.0 sites are going to become an authority MUCH faster than ANY new directory.

No amount of linking is excessive if done with regular speed

Leaving comments just to bump up your post count is tantamount to spamming.

The important part when submitting your site to a directory is to make sure that the category or page in the directory your link will be in is at least cached by google.

If its not even cached by Google, its not worth submitting as you wont even get a backlink out of it.

Also, dont bother applying to a directory that shows that they have 500 pending links because it means that you are just wasting your time as your link will never get approved since that site doesnt appear to be monitored.

Anyway, just remember that not all backlinks are equal. It might be more worth it to spend your time looking for a good backlink from a relevant site then a crappy directory backlink.

In my opinion, 1 good backlink is worth 100 links from a directory

submitting to PR3 and above directories is good for backlink juice.

Submit to quality and relevant categories only. Select specific category related to your site and then submit it. If you submit it to irrelevant category and if the directory is moderated then the moderator wont accept your submission.

you can submit directories as much as you can, and you can get more backlinks.
but related topics to related category is much important.

Submit your site in do follow sites and links with a good content.
