Thread: Corrupt Dmoz Editor - Bribes Are Permitted

This was a good read:

Yesterday I reported that a corrupt DMOZ editor was buying votes in order to win the February 2007 Phpld Directory of the Month competition. As a result, I disqualified his entries. He responded, and I quote:

“Lol show me the rule where it says ” No buying votes ” , i will let you go with that, do you how politics really operates ? You think politicians campaign most of the time ? Nope they buy voters too, its the truth but since you cannot realize that its cool good luck with competition.

Can you believe this guy? Basically used a loophole but what happened to morals? Winning fair and square?

Funny thing is this kid actually tries to argue with us that he is right, obviously his parents didn't teach him enough, I feel sorry for them if they have to argue with him everyday.

Well, it's a kid eh? No wonder. It feels better to know you won fair and square, I guess all he cares about is looks and not facts.

Too many internet contests are being won this way and it seems to be perfectly OK with some people.
It makes me shy away from entering contests anymore because they are often nothing more than a popularity contest.
I was entered in a $10,000 blogging contest that turned into a popularity contest in the final voting. WTF was the point of blogging for the contest?

Hmmm....how did he got to be an editor in the first place?

I don't think we can generalize DMOZ editors since ther are some good ones. I think it is more low moral sewer rat people to blame! I can't imagine having that low of a business practice, whats the point of running a business like that? I like sleeping at night, not thinking about clients I would have scammed (although they probably don't care who they scam)

He's not "just an editor". He has set up a whole forum involving the theme of reforming DMOZ and goes around promoting this forum.

Some people just want to win by what ever means they think of. This one was just an other example. They are sick.

I think that if you are a DMOZ editor long enough and get away with so much shit, some of them will feel like they can buy their way into anything.
