Thread: DMOZ, I'm bad....

The other day, I checked to see if I am listed yet, of course I'm not but I did something.

I found a link in my category to a dead site, I used the update information option and reported it as dead, but you have to put email, name etc so I put a name and email based off the dead site, not my own.

I also emailed the editor and asked if he's dead?

I checked today and the dead link is removed.

What does this tell me? The editor is active and refuses to list my site, I cannot see what's wrong with my site, it's better than all or most in it's category.

Anyway, so the editor or some editor is alive. I really don't like that place and I am surprised the dead link was even touched! There's life at DMOZ!

It works for wildlife and DMOZ editors alike. Play dead and everyone leaves you alone.

i'll start looking for a deadlink at dmoz... and in return, i'll demand them to approve my site on their directory... lol...

I don't know what else I can do to comply with their guidelines, Geez, I was submitting right within Mississauga, how exact can I get? Twats! Lol, it was a Mississauga web design company I reported as dead.

Do it, it will prove one thing, an editor is there and alert and deliberately ignoring you, more than likely cause they have a site in that category and don't want actual GOOD competition, again, twats!

Your post inspired me to search my own category for dead links last night and I found 1.

Actually... it wasn't dead, but they changed their business focus and no longer fit the category.

You should have bought the dead site and 301'd it to yours

Lol, I'd love to, but it wasn't dead that way, the domain exists, just nothing was configured.

what gets me is that there are 10s of thousands of cnn pages in DMOZ and 80 percent of them have their content moved.

LoL, I am waiting from a year Sometimes I search my link in dmoz if they added mine :P

I hate that place and how it's run. I was fortunate to get a couple of my sites listed there years ago.. but since them one of them was removed without explanation. (btw, I've submitted dozens).

Ive found a few dead links in category where I submitted one of my sites, and bookmarked them just never reported them, guess ill report it, and e-mail the editor and ask about my link being accepted maybe works, but one of my directories I submitted never got accepted, but I searched the title a few minutes ago, and funny thing 4 pages of results, and there is a site totally different then what the title describes but same as mine.

dmoz works like snails. i'm still awaiting for approval (submitted last year)

Anyone have any luck nowadays when adding sites?

Not at all, I think they don't plan to add any either by the looks of it, complete crap.
