$299 Price good for (1) year. Google gives the yahoo Dir an authoritative ranking. Mileage will vary but it surely doesn't hurt you like submitting to 100's of simple directories just to get linkage.

1 PR 10 will boost you to a guaranteed pr 6 and as high as pr 8. but it depends on the number of outgoing links. from that pr 10

PR doesn't ever guarantee traffic, unfortunately

Yep, one of the great myths that it seems all webmasters fall into.
Get a link on a pr page, forget those without pr.
Not like it used to be, traffic!

I have sites with low pr that get lots of traffic.
I know sites with low to no pr that get more traffic than high pr sites.

But yet, webmasters want to buy links ONLY on pr sites, not traffic sites.

There are a lot of good pr sites out there with nada traffic!
Heck, check out blogs some time.
Tons of blogs have not been updated in months, even since last year some time.
But they have pr.

Even getting on google via adwords does not guarantee any traffic.

Now, if you were selling a damn good software that was needed by windows users, and you could convince MSN to put a link to your site on their main page, wow....traffic!!!

Beside, when it is a PR8 yahoo directory but you listed in an inner PR1 page, you don't have the impact of the PR8, right?

Right..........it can be considered as link from any PR-1 site lol

I don't care much about gaining PR but would like to have traffic i would rather spend for getting traffic then running behind PR

If you don't mind waiting, and then waiting some more, then waiting a little more then waiting even more.....AND, if you get accepted....THEN...

it doesn't hurt to get listed there. However, don't expect Dmoz to give you lots of traffic nor help with your PR...if that's what your after. Your better off spending your time and efforts elsewhere.

You can get in the yahoo directory for free! but then there is a small trick!

all you have to do is!! go to your own countries extention of yahoo directory and submit it there!!

for example, am from india! so it will be,
in.dir.yahoo.com i guess you got it, right!! there you have a better chance of having you site in the yahoo directory.

take you time, fill up the details properly, and you will manage it, most of the category pages are, pr4-5 there!! so it will certainly help!

I agree that not many of the directories will give you actual traffic, but they do give a link from a high PR page -> lot's of good links -> high ranking in the SERP's -> lot's of traffic from Google

sure, adding links to good traffic sites is also important, but it's the combination of all the different kind of links and traffic that will make your site a success

submitting to high PR dirs is just 1 of them ...

daypop seems to be down indeed, strange for such a big site

and yes, Eevl is for very serious sites ;-)

and note that sitemaps is for all sites, but you need to submit your sitemap page

I understand if you submit to Yahoo Canada for free (vs their paid listing), it's fairly easy to be included and the Yahoo US shadows many of the Canadian listings so it's worth a try vs paying $299 for one year...

Yes the list of high PR free web directories is a rare one but one has to keep finding them as they result in good link backs.

Oh, but it can.. at least indirectly..

Let's say your site has tens of thousands of pages, but is a PR 2 or 3... The crawl is not that deep, hence not that many of those pages are indexed, and as a result, traffic (referral traffic from SE's anyway) is not that great..

Now you get a PR 6 or 8, the crawl is extremely deep, more indexed pages and more weight carried on your site and the indexing of it. As a result, generally, the more pages indexed, it stands to reason that there will be more referral traffic as a result.

Watch 'traffic' carefully, many will post all traffic including bots, hits, etc not just uniques. Even there are the uniques mostly webmasters coming to check their listings, auto tools, submit, etc.

We do not have the highest PR out there, but we have consistent traffic, have been around for some time now, and seem to generate traffic for our users.

Our directory is clean, well organized, and always as fresh as possible as we update it daily and kill dead sites, move sites in the wrong category, and continually update categories.
