This happened quite awhile ago, but yeah, glad it's Jeff(Aviva) who took over.![]()

Any ideas why John sold SevenSeek Kalina?
It's a nice looking directory but I think the directory boom of the last 12 months will start to slow down, in my opinion. People are finding new ways to build good links.

John is focusing on directory.v7n.com. Too many directories under one brand, that is what he told me.![]()

It makes sense.
Least he can spend the $$s on promoting the v7n directory.
I agree Patrick. People are just out for a qucik buck for the most part. How many unique and well thought out directories do you really see these days? It just seems like people garb an expired domain with some PR on it and slap a temporary directory on it and call it a day.
just my .o2 though, what do you think?

Building or running directories is by no means a new business, in fact they are much older than any search engine and have used database technology much longer, think of the Yellow Pages for example.
Large scale directories now employ search engine technology to find files in the databases they have had for over 50 years!
A good example of a large scale directory that actually started out as a set of 25 or so large printed volumes is the Thomas Register of Manufacturers.
You can see their web portal here!
"people garb an expired domain with some PR on it and slap a temporary directory on it and call it a day." - I guess you were glad to see pixi finally banned from DP too! It really does only take a few bad apples to make a whole lot of folks look bad.
But I will also state that for many folks (me included) there has been a huge learning curve in what works and how to strike the balance between providing a quality resources for users and making some money.
Or just call him and say hello
I'll tell him you all send him the best the next time i speak to him.
Probably many directories have come up now and significant number are sharing almost same database and directory structures. People buy databases, put a directory, run for few months and sell it. I feel quality directories are endangered species now.Too few remain or may be i have seen too many lower quality directories.
