I personally see business directories as a more niche directory. General directories except a variety of website topics and services, where a Business directory would be more specialized, like a financial websites, affiliate websites only etc. Does that help at all?

I think that's right - a business directory is for propper businesses, however, I don't think that's how people use the terms, they use them to mean the same thing. Business directory just sounds a bit more professional then calling it a general one in my opinion.

A business directory is a directory of businesses IRRESPECTIVE of whether they have a website or not. Business directories will list your business even if you don't have a web presence and not only will they list a description of your business but will also provide other information such as physical address, phone numbers, number of employees, company directors etc.

I would also suggest that a business directory will focus on the affiliate provider - and exclude affiliates unless they target a specific niche, such as a people in a particular city.

And a good business directory will list the business name rather than the seo words. So you'd see "Whykickamoocow Appliances Ltd" not "discount appliances" being listed.

I think a a business directory will ask for the money from the website.
A general directory will not.

No so, a business directory doesn't have to be a paid link, just as a general directory doesn't have to be free.

Hey Kimmy sweety - you're the ONLY one who cares about me!!! ... I don't disappear on purpose, I've just been super busy with a client project. I've had to roll up my sleeves and do some of my own php coding which I'm not really used to doing.

The good news is I've come up with some really neat wordpress php code snippets to do some cool things such as show targeted content on specific pages/posts, include php files in my post content, integrated phpformail into wordpress etc I'll be writing about it and sharing the info in my blog in the near future. If you are in a rush to know about some the above mentioned items send me a PM.

Don't be like that, we all miss you! Looking forward to seeing what you've been up to. I hear ya on the busy part. I'm sick of client projects, unfortunately they do help pay the bills :P
