As of a few weeks ago, yes.

Got one category, specific to Mississauga. Not in my main line of work, but I DO have a website that I can put in there.
I haven't really done much since finding out. I've logged in, looked around, but that's all.

lol, it's tough to get accepted as an editor, I tried many moons ago, they wrote back saying I just wanted to add my own sites. It wasn't even for a category I'd have sites in. LOL!

Nice to meet you sigspammer. If you take a closer look you'll see that ODP currently shows a static copy of the public pages. Links to become an editor, submit a site and all that good stuff are not working. The editors' server is down, so is research, and basically everything other than the static copy on the public server and the editors forum.

Not being a technical person, it's hard for me to relay what the problem is. Maybe Zap could read the internal thread and pluck out the relevant bits.

You can find stuff as well as you ever could, but it's an older copy.

Ironically, this happened during major upgrades.

I can't recall where I know you from. My guess is you're using a different user name?

Although there are a lot of editors who only do minimal edits and don't seem to care much, there are a lot of us who are very devoted to what we do. The most devoted rarely post in forums so they aren't really noticed but there are more of them than anyone seems to realize. It's definately traumatic for all the really dedicated editors who suddenly can't edit.

We had server upgrades in the summer of 2003. There was a lot of downtime then as well, but the public side wasn't affected.

This is true, I tried twice. No dice.

I think it's because I submitted a site at the same time they probably automatically assume if you submit a site and apply to be an editor you're going to spam the listing.

That long of an outage and it's just 'servers' I mean come on. They have no emergency backups, or plans, or anything to have something up until they can restore their primary servers...

The only thing I can think is that they've had some kindof RAID5 going on, and everything completely fudged up. That's the only way I can fathum them being down that long. Even then, how about an offsite backup?
