    Angry Freaking godaddy

I have a domain to be renewed and it was set to autorenew, but I got nervous and decided to do it myself. (I had to login to change nameservers on a domain).

I get this message when I tried to renew:
Requested action cannot be performed due to an upcoming domain expiration:
    Mydomainwhatever.com

I contacted support and I might have to wait 11 hours for a freaking answer.
Your question has been sent to our customer support staff! You should receive a response within 11 hours. Click here to return to the support page.

There's a reason I am moving my domains from that whacked place and this is one of them.

Hmmm..thats weird.. I had no such prob like that. Is that only with Godaddy or others too? I got a domain transfered from godaddy at the last day of its expire..

But I think you cannot change NS while the domain is expiring a few days later...! Ma be its like that for every registrar..... or may be only godaddy..

    What did the reply back?

GoDaddy is a big company, The more big they are the more big are their problems.

I use godaddy only If I have a permanent web host and I do not want to change nameservers etc.

Use Dynadot, They are the best, Plain-Simple-No BS-No Promotional Offers and specially, No Mind fuc*ing

Most probably the domains status was "expiring"?
In that case, you need to renew it first before you can change its NS.

I wasn't able to renew it

The only email I got was an autoresponder so far.

Anywho, I went in and tried again this morning and I was able to renew it. It was listed in red mg:

I might add, the only domains I have at godaddy are ones I purchased from others that were pushed there. As soon as they can be transferred to another registrar they are, must most are due to be renewed before the required 8 week period is up.

After my recent dealings with GoDaddy, I am moving all my domains to Namecheap.
I've already moved 50 of them. Only another 50 to go.

I had couple of domain names registered with GoDaddy, but never had any problems with them.

I know that my friend has serious problems with them, because someone hacked into his GoDaddy account and transfered all his domain names to another registrant.

GoDaddy told him to contact ICANN, but they domain ownership information was already changed and they didn't do anything and he lost the domain names.

godaddy is a pain in the arse. They reckon they just made it easier to navigate, but I think it is even worse now.

And zeus, still no email from them.

I definitely agree with you, I couldn't find anything after they changed the navigation menu. They thought it would be easier to navigate, but it's more complicated to navigate.

Try contacting them by phone support, they will help you the best that way and with a quick answer.

Yes I have noticed that lately too. Which is a pain if you have bought a site. The site may be in limbo until they pull their finger out.

From my experience the 'name server' issue is more dependent on your own ISP.

'However' I have always noticed Godaddy being much, much quicker than namecheap and others when changing.

I've never had it take more than a few minutes, if it's not working on your end try a proxy. Proxies being web based using the server variables almost always update much quicker than your own connection does.

I would have to disagree with that. Not with the most part, just with the godaddy part. Personally I have always thought that dns updates seem to propagate faster when I use namecheap. Again it is all really dependant on the dns servers you use.

I don't know, when I use godaddy and use a proxy to check it's almost instant.

Have you ever tried a proxy to test?

I have used a proxy to test. To be honest, when I said that namecheap was faster, I literally meant by a matter of minutes. Both are fast

And the host? I have tried adding on a domain after changing NS on three occasions and got an error message that the name servers were not pointing to the host, to go and fix that first. The first time it happened, it was hours before the new host accepted it. I had never come across that before, it appears to be yet another new glitch with godaddy.
