Default Nominet try to shaft CountryBoy

I've just received an invoice from Nominet for the renewal of one of my .org.uk domain names. I almost had a coronary at the price - £94 for 2 years!

£94? That's crazy money. I could buy a Ferrari for that price... well almost. Suffice to say I'll not be renewing. I'll also be keeping well away from .uk domain names in future.

Did the domain get much traffic?

What made you buy a dot org.uk domain in the first place when dot co.uk names are much cheaper?

Didn't get much traffic, no. I just used it as a redirect to my main blog, so no real loss.

I purchased through 1and1 and they were all the .uk's were the same price - like £4.95 for two years.

    I use 123reg.co.uk for dot co.uks.

Never heard anything good about 1&1.

You will have received our invoice because your registrar has not renewed the domain name. We send this after various email reminders to the registrant as a final notice that the domain will shortly be suspended and then cancelled.

If you do decide you want to renew arrange this through your registrar. Don't pay our invoice. A registrar will usually charge a lot less.

Well, that's good to know Ellie.
I'm letting the domain go because I have no need for it.
